Job Title: IBM Cognos TM1 (Planning Analytics) Developer

About The Opportunity
A technology consulting firm operating in the Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) and Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) sector, delivering budgeting, forecasting, consolidation and reporting solutions for large enterprises. We implement and support IBM Cognos TM1 (Planning Analytics) solutions that drive accurate, timely financial insights and automated planning workflows. This role is fully on-site in India and focuses on hands-on TM1 development, integration and performance optimisation. (Also commonly referred to as IBM Planning Analytics or TM1.)

Role & Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and maintain IBM Cognos TM1 (Planning Analytics) models (cubes, dimensions, processes) to support budgeting, forecasting and reporting use cases.
  • Build and optimise TurboIntegrator (TI) processes, TM1 Rules and Feeders to ensure accurate calculations and efficient data flows.
  • Integrate TM1 with source systems (SQL/ETL, flat files, APIs) and build robust data-loading/synchronisation routines.
  • Diagnose and resolve performance issues—carry out capacity planning, memory tuning, and query optimisation for high-concurrency environments.
  • Develop and maintain Excel-based FP&A reports (including Excel add-ins) and collaborate with BI teams on Power BI/Report Studio visualisations where required.
  • Document designs, create runbooks and provide L2/L3 support and knowledge transfer to stakeholders and junior team members.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Must-Have
  • 3+ years hands-on experience with IBM Cognos TM1 (Planning Analytics)—cube & dimension modelling, TI, Rules, Feeders.
  • Proven experience writing TurboIntegrator scripts and MDX queries; strong understanding of TM1 memory and performance characteristics.
  • Solid SQL skills (SQL Server preferred) and experience integrating TM1 with transactional and reporting data sources.
  • Strong Excel skills for FP&A reporting (formulas, pivot tables, VBA/macros) and experience supporting finance stakeholders.
  • Excellent problem-solving, documentation and on-site stakeholder communication skills.

  • Experience with IBM Planning Analytics Workspace (PAW), TM1 Web, and modern BI tools (Power BI, Cognos Analytics).
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices, source control (Git), and automated deployment of TM1 models.
