Background

The Hans Foundation (THF), established in 2009, is a Public Charitable Trust that works towards creating an equitable society to enhance the quality of life for all by empowering marginalized and underprivileged communities in India. The Hans Foundation works for the health and well-being of remote and under-served groups, with an additional focus on children, persons with disabilities, and women. THF also works for holistic Education and Livelihood development of our communities. Our two-fold strategy involves identifying and working within aspirational districts and high poverty indexes in the North, North-East, and East regions within specific states, as well as catering to lower-income and migratory populations in cities through urban programs.

Over its 15 years of existence, THF has reached more than 35 million beneficiaries through its programs. THF works with communities through the direct implementation of projects on the ground in addition to providing local management and monitoring support to not-for-profit organizations in India funded through THF USA and RIST

About Project

Hans Nayi Disha is a school for children from marginalized communities (NGO). We offer admission to children between the ages of 5 and 13, for classes U.KG to 5. We follow the NCERT curriculum and prepare children for NIOS exams, and/or admission to other mainstream schools.

Job Purpose

A Teacher is responsible for teaching, mentoring, and supervising young children in their foundational years of education. Their main role is to equip students with the basic knowledge, skills, and attitudes required for lifelong learning. Your main goal will be to create a supportive learning environment that will help your students meet their learning goals. Through interesting and diverse methods, you'll teach them the important rules of reading, writing, and speaking in English. You'll oversee their progress by tracking their assignment and exam grades, to provide useful feedback.

Key Accountabilities

• Planning course material and activities in all subjects: English, Hindi, Math, EVS.
• Assessing the students' progress (e.g. homework, exam grades, etc.)
• Building trusting relationships with students, parents, and other staff.
• Organize classroom lessons and follow coursework.
• Prepare worksheets activities and tools for teaching.
• Assign homework.
• Identify slow learners and assign them work according to their capability.
• Determine exam and assignment grades.
• Keep a record of students' attendance and grades.
• Maintain classroom decorum.
• Inform parents about their children's performance.
• Collaborate with teaching staff and administrators to foster a good student experience.

Other Indicative Requirements

• Educational Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Education

• Functional / Technical Skills and Relevant Experience & Other requirements (Behavioural, Language Certifications, etc.)

• Experiences of more than 2 years in Teaching.
• Teaching certification – NTT, JBT.
• Ability to develop and implement effective lesson plans.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong classroom management skills.
• Ability to adapt to diverse learning needs of students.
• Good organizational and time-management skills.
• Patience, empathy, and enthusiasm for working with young children.
• Empathy for the parents who are not educated and need to be managed with patience.
• Understanding the background of the students and adapting to their learning capabilities.
