Role Overview
The BIM 3D Piping Designer will be responsible for creating coordinated 3D piping models from 2D P&IDs and General Arrangement drawings, ensuring accuracy and constructability. This role requires strong collaboration with engineers and other disciplines, attention to detail, and proficiency in BIM tools and workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce coordinated 3D BIM piping models from 2D P&IDs and General Arrangement drawings.
- Ensure correct fittings and components are used throughout to enable accurate fabrication and constructability.
- Include accurate piping supports as required.
- Perform clash detection to ensure a clash-free design.
- Collaborate with engineers, other trade disciplines, and team members to resolve design issues.
- Generate piping isometrics (ISOs) and verify accuracy.
- Manage documentation using BIM360 or other Common Data Environment (CDE) platforms.
- Perform all other duties associated with this role and/or reasonably required by the company. The company reserves the right to vary the scope and nature of the employee's normal duties to take into account changes in work patterns and business requirements.
Skills & Qualifications
- Proficiency in Autodesk Plant 3D and Navisworks (experience with Revit is an advantage).
- Strong understanding of piping systems, fittings, and supports.
- Experience in clash detection and resolution.
- Familiarity with BIM360 or similar CDE platforms.
- Ability to interpret P&IDs and GA drawings accurately.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
