What the role is all about:

• We're seeking an experienced Engineering Manager (8-12 years' experience) who thrives in a collaborative environment, enjoys being hands-on tackling technical challenges and leading teams to deliver innovative solutions. You'll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams across the globe, leading the design, development, and optimization of features to ensure high-quality, scalable solutions that deliver exceptional user experiences.
• This role sits in the Media Team, within the Advertising portfolio. The Media team helps consumers share, rent, buy, sell and enjoy property, by connecting them with all sorts of products and services to help them along their property journey. This includes finance products, utilities, home services, furnishings, automotive and many more innovative advertising, lead generation tools and extension products. The fast-growing Media business includes a cross-functional team from Product, IT, Sales, Marketing, PR and Communications, HR, Finance and Legal. We're all about using digital solutions to make property and everything that supports consumers around property, simple, efficient and stress free.
• The Engineering Manager role has key strategic importance and visibility within the business. This is a unique role that will focus on delivering thought leadership in advertising technologies, designing innovative solutions, and helping teams leverage this to produce world class advertising products.

• While no two days are likely to be the same, your typical responsibilities will include:
• Thought leadership in buying ads, selling ads, and sharing data with advertising clients.
• Contributing to the overall technical solution design and product direction, working with Tech Leads to ensure our solution is in line with our technical vision.
• Informing delivery planning and technical design by providing a balanced view of options, effort, and quality considerations.
• Working with the team leads to understand business priorities, express ideas and communicate technical options.
• Collaborate with product and design teams to transform user needs into technical specifications.
• Contribute to REA's technical strategy and roadmap, aligning with business goals and stakeholders.
• Manage project stream, aligning dependencies for business success.
• Design solutions that will solve customer problems.
• Oversee and take part in the entire lifecycle of high-quality, scalable web applications from ideation to evolution in production and everything in between.
• Define, advocate and exemplify best practices within the team like writing clean and reusable code using TDD, pair programming, and design patterns.
• Demonstrate and ensure code quality and security through activities like pairing, code reviews, unit testing, and secure deployments.
• Foster team development and growth of technical expertise through:
• Sharing knowledge through sessions and mentoring other developers.
• Building technical capability.
• Sharing performance and development feedback.
• Foster a culture of continuous learning and inclusive knowledge.

• Serve as the lead for squad team members, providing guidance, support, and leadership.

Who we are looking for:

• An experienced developer (8-12 years' experience), who thrives in a collaborative environment, enjoys being hands-on tackling technical challenges and leading teams to deliver innovative solutions.
• Proven people leadership and mentoring experience
• Well-versed in two or more languages (JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and )
• Demonstrated experience working in Docker, Splunk, PHP and/or AWS services
• Comfortable with Agile, and/or Continuous Delivery methodologies.
• Good awareness of TDD, CI/CD approaches and tools.
• Experience working in Media/AdTech industry, with exposure to – Bidding solutions, DSPs, SSPs, Tag Management, CDPs, knowledge of targeting and creative setup used in media campaigns as well as privacy-enhancing technologies.
• Has led development teams using Agile, Lean and/or iterative releasing
• Knowledge of delivery approaches such as TDD, CI and infrastructure automation.
• Demonstrates a commitment to code quality and a keen eye for detail.
• Advocate for code quality and security. Lead code reviews, unit testing, and deployments to ensure users trust the reliability and security of the code.
• Experience developing products that scale and perform for millions of users (highly desirable).
• Approaches problems with a solutions-oriented mindset and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
• Possesses communication skills to collaborate effectively with global teams.
• Strong experience in managing project schedule and working closely with DLs, BAs, PMs and product teams.
• Ability to foster a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing.
