DevOps Engineer – Sample Job Description

Role Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled DevOps Engineer
to support and enhance our cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, container orchestration, and monitoring frameworks. You will be responsible for automating infrastructure, improving application reliability, managing system performance at scale, and ensuring security best practices across the environments.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC):
  • Design, build, and manage cloud infrastructure using Terraform
    for provisioning AWS resources (EC2, ECS, RDS, VPC, S3, Route53, etc.).
  • Version control infrastructure using GitHub and automate changes via CI/CD pipelines.
  • CI/CD Pipeline Development:
  • Develop and maintain build and deployment pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions
    , and
    Concourse CI
    .
  • Implement automated testing, artifact creation, and deployment strategies to various environments.
  • Containerization and Orchestration:
  • Develop and deploy microservices using Docker
    and
    Kubernetes
    (EKS or self-managed clusters).
  • Monitor container health, ensure high availability, and manage scaling.
  • Linux & Scripting:
  • Automate system operations and routine tasks using Shell scripting
    (Bash).
  • Perform
    OS-level patching
    , performance tuning, and system hardening on
    Linux-based systems
    .
  • Cloud & Application Monitoring:
  • Set up and manage dashboards and alerts using Grafana, Kibana
    , CloudWatch, or Prometheus.
  • Analyze logs and metrics for performance bottlenecks and resolve production issues proactively.
  • Cloud Infrastructure (AWS):
  • Manage and secure resources across ECS, EC2, S3, RDS, Route53
    , and
    VPC

  • Implement auto-scaling, load balancing, and secure networking (NACLs, Security Groups).
  • Security & Compliance:
  • Enforce security policies through automation and auditing tools.
  • Ensure encryption, IAM role best practices, and patch management to maintain a secure production environment.
  • Application Management at Scale:
  • Deploy and support distributed, high-performance, and highly available applications.
  • Implement strategies for blue-green deployments, canary releases, and zero-downtime upgrades.
