The Cloud Portability team is on a mission to make our simple one-click deployment experience run on any hardware, anywhere—from our own bare metal to any of the cloud providers.

You'll be a foundational member of our growing Hyderabad engineering team, with a global mandate to re-architect critical IaaS components for a multi-cloud world. This is a high-exposure role where you will work directly with and influence our most senior Principal Engineers globally. If you're a builder with a founder's mindset who has experience at cloud-scale and wants to solve vast, complex problems with global impact, this role is for you.

• Architect and Build: Own the technical vision and execution to make DO's IaaS services run seamlessly on heterogeneous hardware and cloud environments.
• Solve Deep Technical Challenges: Dive into the internals of our stack, optimizing for scale, performance, and hardware efficiency across different underlying platforms.
• Influence and Collaborate: Work across the organization with our top Principal Engineers globally, influencing technical direction and driving consensus on complex architectural decisions.
• Own the Outcome: Embody a founder's mindset. You'll own an idea, navigate the ambiguity, figure out the path forward, build, learn, and ultimately deliver value to our customers.
• Bridge the Gap: Bring a customer-centric perspective to our product, finding innovative ways to bridge feature gaps between our platform and hyperscalers by leveraging portability and our core differentiators.

• Global Impact: You will own a product area with a global charter, making decisions that impact customers and infrastructure around the world, right from Hyderabad.
• High-Exposure: Collaborate daily with some of the most brilliant minds in the company, gaining unparalleled experience in cloud infrastructure.
• Build from the Ground Up: Be a key part of building DigitalOcean's strategic engineering presence in India, with direct ownership of a product critical to our global success.

• Deep experience in building, operating, or consuming cloud products at major tech companies or hyperscalers. You've worked on large-scale distributed systems and understand the trade-offs required.
• Strong fundamentals in computer science, including distributed systems, networking, and algorithms.
• Proficiency in languages like Go or Python. Experience with Ruby on Rails is a plus.
• A "builder" mentality. This role would be ideal for anyone who has expansive experience working in cloud services including DevOps  with a strong computer science background who is eager to return to hands-on product development.
• The ability to navigate ambiguity, own a problem end-to-end, and make pragmatic trade-offs to get things done.
• Proven ability to influence senior technical leaders and drive complex projects forward in a fast-moving, global environment

You may qualify for a bonus in addition to base salary; bonus amounts are determined based on company and individual performance.
