Legal Analyst
Roles and Responsibilities
- Contract Drafting and Review: Prepare, review, and negotiate real estate contracts, purchase agreements, leases, and vendor agreements. Ensure all documents comply with legal regulations and company policies.
- Real Estate Transactions: Assist in the management of real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, and lease agreements, ensuring all legal documentation is complete, accurate, and executed properly.
- Legal Research: Conduct legal research on various real estate issues, including zoning laws, property taxes, tenant rights, and industry regulations to support legal decision-making.
- Compliance and Risk Management: Monitor and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws governing real estate transactions, property management, and development. Identify and mitigate legal risks in day-to-day operations.
- Litigation Support: Provide assistance with disputes, litigation, or claims related to real estate, including preparation of legal documents, gathering evidence, and liaising with external legal counsel as necessary.
- Advisory Role: Offer legal advice to internal departments, including property management, finance, and development teams, regarding various legal matters such as tenant disputes, contract interpretation, and risk management.
- Regulatory Filings: Ensure timely filings and compliance with real estate regulatory bodies, including submitting necessary documents to local municipalities or government agencies.
- Due Diligence: Participate in the due diligence process for property acquisitions, including title reviews, environmental assessments, and legal document analysis.
- Dispute Resolution: Assist in the resolution of legal disputes with tenants, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders in a timely and effective manner.
- Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of legal documents, contracts, and communications. Organize and manage the company's legal files in compliance with company policies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Paralegal Studies, or related field. Legal certification or paralegal certification is preferred.
- A minimum of 2-4 years of experience as a Legal Specialist or Paralegal, preferably in the real estate industry.
- Strong understanding of real estate law, including property transactions, lease agreements, land use, zoning, and environmental regulations.
- Experience with contract law and the ability to review, draft, and negotiate various real estate contracts.
- Knowledge of relevant state and federal laws and regulations pertaining to real estate, land use, and commercial leases.
- Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal matters to non-legal team members.
- High attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and legal research tools.
