Responsibilities:

We're searching for a Senior Engineering Manager to join the Platform Apps org and lead the development efforts on the Atlassian Projects app In this role, you will lead build and lead a team of talented engineers working on Atlassian Projects — a critical component of Atlassian's System of Work. You'll be responsible for building scalable, reliable, and delightful experiences that help teams link their work to outcomes, drive adoption, and integrate seamlessly with the broader Atlassian suite

What You'll Do

• Help build and grow the team that will work on Atlassian Projects, as we start this team from scratch
• Lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering a culture of growth, inclusion, and high performance.
• Drive delivery of key features and improvements for Projects, ensuring alignment with customer needs and Atlassian's strategic objectives.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Design, and other engineering teams to deliver integrated solutions.
• Champion engineering excellence by promoting best practices in code quality, testing, accessibility, and continuous delivery.
• Empower your team to own their work end-to-end, from ideation and design through to launch and ongoing improvement.
• Support adoption and awareness of the Platform Apps (Projects, Goals, Teams and Home), working closely with field teams and customers to understand pain points and opportunities
• Contribute to the technical strategy for integrating Projects with other Atlassian products and external tools via APIs

Qualifications:

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience managing software engineering teams, ideally in product-focused or SaaS environments.
• Experience building new teams and building a healthy culture within those teams.
• Strong technical background with experience building and scaling web applications or distributed systems.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver complex projects in an agile environment.
• Experience coaching, mentoring, and developing engineers at various career stages.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a track record of working effectively with cross-functional partners.
• Passion for building products, and a strong product engineering mindset, that help teams achieve their goals.
