Skills:

1. Knowledge of and proficiency of principles, practices, ICU procedures and current trends in medical practice.
2. Knowledge of medico legal significance and policies.
3. Knowledge of and adherence to policies, procedures and systems in the hospital
4. Knowledge of and adherence to standard precautions and aseptic techniques in all areas of the hospital.
5. Supervise the coordination of patient care activities with the consultants, colleagues, other team members and other departments as necessary.
6. Good interpersonal skills
7. Supervise the coordination of patients investigations with other departments e.g. taking appointments, tracking and procuring the reports of investigations done.
8. Counseling the patient regarding procedures to be performed if any, need for a particular investigation or form of treatment.
9. Knowledge of and proficiency in all ICU procedures such as pleural tapping, ascitic tapping, lumber puncture, resuscitation methodology etc.
   
   10.Accompanying patients to CT/MRI/PET scan.

Abilities Needed:

Medical knowledge, computer literacy and proficiency.

Ability to converse clearly and politely with consultants, patients, relatives and colleagues

Maintain and update professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops, CMEs and clinical meetings.

Key ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities

Job Activities:

1. Ensuring the examination of a new patient promptly by taking admission history and doing physical assessment in details and recording the same with the on duty doctor
2. After collection of patient information ensure complete documentation related to the indoor patient with signatures and that the consultant has been informed of the admission and advice has been taken regarding the investigations to be done along with plan of care and details of medication to be administered to the patient.
3. Ensure that the consultant has been informed regarding the progress or any change in the patients condition and reports of the investigations ordered by the consultant and following all further orders.
4. Supervise the discharge process
5. Documentation of Death certificate & death summary.
6. In case of a referral advised, discuss the detail case with the referred doctor.
7. Any medical emergency situation arising in the designated area should be handled and communicated to the Medical Services.
8. Attend ICU rounds with the consultants as required, and be available to discuss further patient management plans.
9. Taking frequent patient rounds during each shift and record the same.
10. To perform any additional tasks as per hospital policy
11. Ensuring all codes whenever activated to be attended as per hospital protocol.
12. Appropriate handover to next duty doctor.
13. Performing procedures basis privileges.
14. Taking appropriate consents on basis of procedures.
15. Attending ambulance calls as advised by medical services team.

1. Must not participate in any way in financial transactions between patient/ relative and the hospital
2. Acceptance of gifts in the form of cash or kind is prohibited.
