Mission
Build and evolve ultra-low-latency, fault-tolerant trading services powering a high-frequency crypto exchange. You'll design and ship Go services that execute, route, and risk-check orders at extreme throughput and tight latency budgets, while integrating with our market data, matching, and settlement stacks.
What You'll Own
Low-latency services: Design and implement Go microservices for order ingest, risk checks, book building, pricing, and routing with sub-millisecond P99 budgets.
Performance engineering: Profile and optimize hot paths (CPU, memory, GC, syscalls), apply lock-minimizing/data- oriented designs, tune goroutine/queueing strategies, and leverage NUMA/IRQ/network stack optimizations in collaboration with Platform.
Distributed systems: Build resilient pipelines for market data and events (Kafka) and stateful services on top of NoSQL and KV stores; design idempotent, exactly-once flows where required.
Reliability & correctness: Implement strong failure-domain isolation, backpressure, circuit breaking, replay/recovery, and well-defined consistency/ordering guarantees.
Infrastructure integration: Service discovery and dynamic config using HashiCorp Consul; zero-downtime deploys, feature flags, and canaries.
Observability: Ship with comprehensive metrics, tracing, and structured logs; create SLOs and on-call playbooks for rapid incident response.
Security & compliance: Follow least-privilege, secrets hygiene, and secure coding practices; participate in design reviews and threat modeling for critical paths.
Minimum Qualifications
5+ years of professional systems/backend experience, 3+ years in Go building high-throughput services. Proven delivery in low-latency or HFT/market-data/matching/risk adjacent systems (or equivalent domains like ad- serving, realtime bidding, gaming backends, telemetry ingestion).
Deep knowledge of concurrency (goroutines, channels, atomics, sync primitives), memory models, and data-oriented design.
Strong grasp of networking (TCP, UDP, multicast, kernel networking basics, connection pooling, Nagle/Delayed ACKs, TLS overhead trade-offs).
Practical experience with Kafka (producer/consumer tuning, partitions, compaction, idempotent/transactional producers, lag management).
Hands-on with at least one NoSQL/KV store (e.g., FoundationDB, DynamoDB, Scylla/Cassandra, Redis, Aerospike): schema/key design, consistency/latency trade-offs, and capacity planning.
Production use of HashiCorp Consul (service discovery, health checks, KV/config, session locks/leader election). Proficiency in Linux performance tooling (pprof, perf, eBPF, flamegraphs) and benchmarking methodology.
Excellent testing discipline: deterministic unit tests, property/fuzz tests, fault injection, and load tests that simulate exchange conditions.
Bonus Points
C/C++/Rust experience for hot-path components, FFI, custom allocators, or low-level networking.
Kernel/bare-metal tuning: IRQ steering, RSS, SR-IOV, busy-poll, hugepages, io_uring.
Time-sync and clock-domain experience (PTP, NTP, clock skew handling) for market-data alignment and fair sequencing. Prior work on matching engines, order books, risk engines, FIX/ITCH OUCH protocols, or market-data handlers. Experience with zero-copy techniques, memory arenas, lock-free/wait-free structures (ring buffers, MPSC queues). Strong familiarity with idempotent outbox, sagas, exactly-once semantics where they truly matter—and knowing when they don't.
