Job Purpose
Create and implement the "Digital MIT Transformation Strategy" aligned with the long-term strategic vision of MIT-WPU, with a focus on building a technology-driven, future-ready organisation.
Key Accountability
Strategic Responsibilities
- Identify and strategize technology-driven solutions that elevate institutional efficiency, academic delivery, and stakeholder experience.
- Position the IT Department as a core enabler to academic, administrative, and research functions, ensuring technology directly supports and accelerates MIT-WPU's strategic goals.
- Conduct continuous research on global technological innovations adopted by leading educational institutions in India and internationally for managing Students, Employees, and Faculty, and recommend best-fit practices for MIT-WPU.
- Define, implement, and enforce Information Security Policies, including Data Privacy standards, Data Protection measures, IT governance frameworks, processes, and risk certification requirements; ensure regular audits and full compliance.
- Drive breakthrough innovation in digital product development, covering Online Learning
Platforms, Classroom Teaching Technologies, Hybrid and Blended Programs, and emerging EdTech solutions.
Operational
- Development and upkeep of all the Websites of MIT
- Understand Internal & External Stakeholders' requirements, assessing the market conditions, evaluating the competitive landscape, and positioning the product line to appeal to the end user
- Create an Integrated Data Centre its 100% uptime. This includes the development and design of database management, relevant strategies, system monitoring and improving database performance and capacity, and planning for future expansion requirements
- Monitor & Analyse Performance of the IT and IT Infrastructures (Servers, WiFi Networks, etc)
- Evaluate Student / Faculty feedback & concerns and integrate them into future development projects
- Taking care of the IT needs of various departments under MITWPU, including those of Examination, ERP, Admissions, Record Keeping, Institutional Relations, Media and Photography Department, all the Social Initiatives, Events, Webinars, Seminars, and Conferences
Operational Responsibilities
- Oversee the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of all MIT websites,
ensuring seamless performance, updated content, and user-friendly design.
- Gather and understand internal and external stakeholder requirements, analyze market conditions, evaluate the competitive landscape, and position digital products and services to effectively meet end‐user expectations.
- Establish and manage an integrated Data Centre with 100% uptime, including database
architecture, system design, monitoring, performance optimization, capacity planning, and future scalability.
- Continuously monitor and analyze the performance of IT systems and infrastructure—including servers, networks, Wi-Fi infrastructure, and other enterprise systems—to ensure reliability, efficiency, and security.
- Review and evaluate feedback from Students and Faculty, integrating insights into product
enhancements, IT upgrades, and future development initiatives.
- Coordinate and support IT requirements across all MIT-WPU departments, including Examination, ERP, Admissions, Record Keeping, Institutional Relations, Media & Photography, Social Initiatives, as well as Events, Webinars, Seminars, and Conferences.
Collaborations & Stakeholder Management
- Facilitate IT procurement processes by conducting need assessments, evaluating vendors, and identifying cost-effective, high-quality technological solutions without compromising core
objectives.
- Review and incorporate Student and Faculty feedback related to IT services and systems, ensuring continuous improvement in user experience and technological delivery.
- Engage with academic and non-academic leaders to introduce emerging technologies, build awareness, and support the adoption of the most effective digital tools and platforms across the university.
- Understand the needs of internal and external stakeholders, analyze market conditions, evaluate competitive offerings, and ensure that all technology products and services are positioned to meet user expectations and maximize institutional value.
- Person Specification Technical & Leadership Experience
- Significant technical expertise and senior leadership experience within a technology-intensive university or a large, complex organisation comparable to the higher education ecosystem.
- Proven ability to develop, articulate, and execute a long-term vision and strategy in multifaceted institutional environments, with a demonstrated track record of leading large-scale digital and organisational transformations.
- Demonstrated leadership in driving performance excellence, setting new benchmarks, and
delivering measurable improvements in organisational efficiency, quality, and technological
capability.
- Strong financial acumen, with experience in strategic budgeting, resource optimisation, cost management, and ensuring accountability for technology investments and operational expenditure.
- A successful record of building and developing high-performing teams, mentoring leaders, and fostering collaborative, innovation-driven work cultures.
- Commitment to strong governance practices, including experience engaging with governing bodies, boards, and external regulators, and the ability to operate effectively in a compliance-driven environment.
External Relations & Corporate Engagement
- Ability to represent and advocate for the University at senior regional and national forums,
influencing key decision-makers and advancing the institution's digital transformation agenda.
- Proven experience in collaborating with corporate organisations, building strategic partnerships between academia and industry, and expanding the university's external engagement ecosystem.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- 15–20 years of professional experience in Information Technology, with substantial exposure to enterprise-level systems, digital transformation, and technology-led organisational change.
- Exceptional personal, public communication, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse individuals across all levels of the organisation.
- Strong user engagement capabilities, ensuring clear communication, requirement analysis, and adoption of technology solutions among students, faculty, and administrative teams.
- Proven ability to manage multiple competing priorities, demonstrating excellent planning,
organisational, and time management skills.
- Strategic thinker and role model leader, capable of delivering defined tasks, objectives, and
large-scale institutional priorities with accountability.
- Experience in customer data management, user journey mapping, and implementing digital solutions that enhance service and experience.
- Skilled in assessing current processes and recommending improvements, with a
continuous-improvement mindset.
- Solid understanding of business finance, including experience in managing budgets, expenditures, and cost-optimised technology operations.
- Extensive experience driving large-scale IT transformation projects, including implementation on multiple enterprise software platforms, systems, and technology solutions.
- Graduate or Postgraduate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Science, Software Engineering, or related disciplines; engineering graduates with additional IT qualifications may also be considered.
- Expert-level knowledge of IT protocols, architecture, standards, and governance frameworks.
- Relevant project management qualification (e.g., PMP, Prince2, Agile, Scrum) or equivalent
demonstrable project management experience.
- Hands-on digital experience in one or more areas such as digital commerce, digital strategy, digital marketing, content management, mobile applications, or digital analytics.
