About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Backend Engineer with strong expertise in FastAPI, Python, and AWS to join us on a 3-month contractual engagement. You will be responsible for designing, building, and deploying scalable backend systems, primarily contributing to client projects while also supporting internal healthcare product development. This is a remote role that requires strong ownership, independent decision-making, and the ability to thrive in fast-paced environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build scalable backend systems and APIs from scratch using FastAPI and Python.
  • Architect and implement distributed systems with a focus on scalability and performance.
  • Write clean, modular, production-grade code with async programming patterns.
  • Develop and deploy applications on AWS (Lambda, S3, DynamoDB) with Docker workflows.
  • Own end-to-end delivery of projects, from design to production deployment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in a globally distributed setup.
  • Contribute to client projects (80%) and internal healthcare product development (20%).
  • Mentor junior developers/interns as required.

Required Technical Skills

  • Advanced Python development skills (clean, scalable code).
  • Strong backend development experience with FastAPI and async programming.
  • Proficiency with AWS services (S3, DynamoDB, Lambda) for production deployments.
  • Docker for development and deployment workflows.
  • Solid understanding of system design and distributed architecture.
  • Strong database knowledge and experience with scalable data solutions.
  • Git/GitHub workflows for collaborative development.

Good-to-Have Skills

  • Experience with LLM APIs (OpenAI GPT, Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini).
  • Familiarity with RAG architectures and vector databases.
  • Exposure to MLOps/LLMOps best practices.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2+ years of industry experience in backend or AI engineering.
  • Proven track record of owning and delivering end-to-end projects.
  • Strong system design and architecture thinking.
  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
  • Ability to work independently in high-stress, fast-paced environments.
  • Strong communication skills for remote collaboration.
  • Passion for AI/ML technologies and proactive learning.
