Roles & Responsibilities

Debt Collection:

  • Contacting customers via phone, email, and letters to ensure timely payment of outstanding debts.
  • Negotiating payment plans with debtors and following up to ensure adherence.
  • Resolving billing and customer credit issues and disputes promptly.

Credit Analysis and Risk Assessment:

  • Assessing the creditworthiness of new and existing customers by analyzing financial statements, credit reports, and payment histories.
  • Recommending appropriate credit limits based on risk assessment.
  • Monitoring credit limits and adjusting them as necessary.

Account Reconciliation:

  • Reconciling accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness of transactions.
  • Investigating and resolving discrepancies in payments and billing.
  • Updating account records and maintaining accurate customer information.

Reporting:

  • Generating and analyzing aged debtors reports to track overdue accounts.
  • Providing regular updates on debtor status and collection efforts to management.
  • Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual credit control reports for senior management.

Relationship Management:

  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with customers to facilitate smooth payment processes.
  • Liaising with sales and customer service teams to address customer queries and concerns promptly.
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders to streamline credit control processes and improve efficiency.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Proven experience working in credit control or a similar financial role, with at least three years of experience.
  • Strong understanding of credit policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in financial analysis and risk assessment.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work well under pressure.
  • Proficient in using accounting software and MS Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
