Job Description:

1. Assembly Operations

  • Execute and supervise precision assembly of space-grade components, sub-assemblies, and systems as per drawings, SOPs, and work instructions.
  • Ensure compliance with approved assembly sequences, torque values, cleanliness requirements, and handling procedures.
  • Coordinate with machining, quality, and stores teams to ensure availability of parts and tools for assembly.

2. Process & Documentation

  • Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, BOMs, and process sheets accurately.
  • Prepare, review, and update assembly work instructions, checklists, and method statements.
  • Maintain complete assembly records, traceability, and build history as per customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Work closely with Design, Quality, Supply Chain, and Testing teams to resolve assembly-related issues.

3. Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with aerospace and space standards such as AS9100 Rev D, customer-specific requirements, and internal quality systems.
  • Support first article inspection (FAI), internal audits, customer audits, and regulatory assessments.
  • Identify non-conformances during assembly and participate in root cause analysis and corrective actions.

4. Capability Building

  • Train, guide, and develop assembly operators on approved assembly processes, work instructions, quality requirements, and safe work practices to ensure consistent skill levels and error-free execution.
  • Support skill mapping, certification, and multi-skilling of operators in line with production and program requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve assembly efficiency, cycle time, and quality.
  • Participate in Lean, Kaizen, 5S, and mistake-proofing initiatives on the shop floor.
  • Support design-for-assembly (DFA) and manufacturability reviews with engineering teams.

5. Adherence to safety & standards

  • Ensure safe working practices and adherence to EHS guidelines on the shop floor.
  • Adhere to IMS, 5S, Kaizen and Green Co requirements
  • Valuing the information received & effort spent in creating every piece of information. Ensuring the right information is accessed by right individuals. Ensuring Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability of information.
  • Responsible to control usage of energy sources for Environmental protection and Energy Security for sustainable growth

Qualification:

Education: B.E. / / Diploma in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Production Engineering

Experience:

3 years for Degree and 5 years of experience for Diploma in precision assembly, preferably in aerospace, space, defense, or high-reliability manufacturing

Technical Skills:

  1. Strong understanding of mechanical drawings and GD&T

  2. Knowledge of aerospace fasteners, torque tools, precision measuring instruments

  4. Basic knowledge of Lean manufacturing and problem-solving tools
