Job Description: Financial Research Associate
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Financial Research Associate to join our team and contribute to various financial projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing financial data, generating insights, and supporting decision-making processes across multiple financial initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Data Analysis & Reporting
- Analyze complex financial datasets to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies
- Create comprehensive reports and dashboards for stakeholders
- Develop and maintain financial models and forecasting tools
- Perform variance analysis and budget vs. actual comparisons
- Generate ad-hoc analysis requests from management
Financial Project Support
- Support multiple financial projects from initiation to completion
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Finance, Operations, and Management
- Assist in project planning, tracking, and performance measurement
- Prepare project status reports and presentations
- Ensure data accuracy and integrity across all financial projects
Technical Responsibilities
- Extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from various sources
- Utilize advanced Excel functions, pivot tables, and data visualization tools
- Work with financial databases and reporting systems
- Automate routine reporting processes where possible
- Maintain documentation of analytical processes and methodologies
Quality Assurance
- Validate data accuracy and perform quality checks
- Identify and resolve data discrepancies
- Ensure compliance with financial reporting standards
- Support audit processes with required documentation
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) - Mandatory
- Specialization in Finance, Accounting, or related field preferred
Experience
- 2-3 years of experience in data analysis, preferably in financial services or related industry
- Proven track record of working on financial projects
- Experience with financial modeling and forecasting
Technical Skills
- Advanced Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros, complex formulas)
- Knowledge of SQL for database queries
- Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, or similar)
- Familiarity with financial software (SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks, etc.)
- Basic knowledge of statistical analysis and financial metrics
Core Competencies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Effective communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Understanding of financial principles and accounting concepts
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certification (CFA, FRM, or similar)
- Experience with programming languages (Python, R, VBA)
- Knowledge of financial regulations and compliance requirements
- Previous experience in project management
- Familiarity with banking or investment operations
