CSSD Technician

Job Description:

Role & responsibilities

Receive, inspect, and sort used instruments and supplies.

Clean and disinfect instruments using manual and automated methods.

Assemble instrument sets and trays according to surgical and departmental requirements.

Operate and monitor sterilization equipment (e.g., autoclaves, ETO).

Package, label, and store sterile items in compliance with hospital standards.

Maintain proper records of sterilization cycles, equipment checks, and inventory.

Ensure traceability of instruments through documentation and tagging.

Conduct routine biological and chemical indicator tests to verify sterilization effectiveness.

Manage the distribution of sterile and non-sterile supplies to operating theatres and departments.

Follow strict infection prevention and control protocols.

Report equipment malfunctions or missing/damaged instruments promptly.

Participate in regular training, audits, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
