Devops Engineer

Key Roles and Responsibilities

1. AWS Cloud Management (EC2, ECS, ALB)

• Design, provision, and maintain scalable and highly available infrastructure on AWS using services like EC2, ECS, and VPC.
• Configure and manage Application Load Balancers (ALB) for optimal traffic distribution, health checks, and SSL termination.
• Monitor service health, performance, and costs, implementing optimizations as needed.
• Manage IAM roles and policies to ensure least-privilege access across all AWS resources.

2. Containerization and Orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)

• Build, maintain, and optimize Docker images for production applications.
• Manage container orchestration platforms, including Docker Swarm and Kubernetes (K8s).
• Implement and fine-tune Kubernetes auto-scaling (e.g., Horizontal Pod Autoscaler, Cluster Autoscaler) to ensure application performance and cost-efficiency.
• Troubleshoot container and cluster-level issues in development and production environments.

3. CI/CD Pipeline Automation (Jenkins)

• Design, build, and maintain robust, end-to-end CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins.
• Automate the build, test, and deployment processes for a variety of applications and microservices.
• Manage Jenkins instances, including plugin management, security, and integration with other tools (e.g., Git, Docker Hub, Artifactory).
• Write and maintain Jenkinsfiles (declarative or scripted pipelines) to define build logic as code.

4. Security and Compliance

• Implement and enforce security best practices for Linux server hardening, including managing firewalls (iptables/firewalld), user access, and patch management.
• Secure the entire cloud infrastructure, including network security (Security Groups, NACLs), data encryption, and vulnerability scanning.
• Conduct regular security audits and proactively identify and remediate potential vulnerabilities.
• Respond to and investigate security incidents and alerts.

5. Internal Hardware and Infrastructure Support

• Assist with the setup, configuration, and maintenance of internal company hardware, including on-premise servers, development workstations, and networking equipment.
• Troubleshoot hardware and network connectivity issues within the office environment.
• Manage physical and virtual assets, ensuring they are properly configured and integrated with our development ecosystem.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• AWS: Proven experience with core AWS services (EC2, ECS, ALB, S3, IAM, VPC).
• Containers: Strong proficiency in Docker, with hands-on experience in Kubernetes and/or Docker Swarm.
• K8s Expertise: Demonstrable experience implementing and managing Kubernetes auto-scaling.
• CI/CD: Deep knowledge of CI/CD principles and extensive experience with Jenkins pipeline development.
• Linux: Expert-level Linux/UNIX administration skills and a strong understanding of shell scripting (Bash).
• Security: Solid understanding of infrastructure security, network security, and Linux system hardening.
• Problem-Solving: Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
• Collaboration: Strong communication skills and experience working in an agile/DevOps culture.

Preferred Qualifications

• Infrastructure as Code (IaC) experience with tools like Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack).
• Familiarity with other scripting languages (e.g., Python, Groovy).
• Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Certified Kubernetes Administrator - CKA).
