Jr. Engineer

This position will be responsible for overseeing mechanical maintenance activities across the CNC machine shop during assigned shifts. The role ensures uninterrupted machine availability, minimum breakdown time, and effective preventive maintenance for CNC, VMC, VTL, and Lathe machines used in stainless steel component production.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Shift-wise Maintenance Supervision:

• Act as the first-level in-charge for mechanical maintenance during the shift.
• Ensure proper functioning and availability of CNC, VMC, VTL, and Lathe machines.
• Respond promptly to machine breakdowns and troubleshoot mechanical issues to minimize downtime.

2. Preventive & Predictive Maintenance:

• Execute preventive maintenance (PM) schedules and checklists for all machines in the bay/shift.
• Identify potential failures through routine inspections and take corrective action to prevent breakdowns.
• Ensure the proper lubrication, alignment, and tightening of machine components as per standards.

3. Troubleshooting & Repairs:

• Perform hands-on diagnostics, repairs, and adjustments of hydraulic, pneumatic, coolant, and mechanical systems.
• Attend to machine errors, spindle problems, slideway issues, and other mechanical malfunctions.
• Escalate major repairs or recurring issues to the Maintenance Manager and support external service calls when required.

4. Spare Parts & Tools Management:

• Coordinate with the stores for availability and issuance of critical spares and tools.
• Maintain inventory records for frequently used mechanical spare parts.
• Ensure availability of essential tools and maintenance kits for emergency support.

5. Documentation & Reporting:

• Maintain shift-wise breakdown logs, root cause analysis reports, and action taken records.
• Update machine history cards and maintenance checklists.
• Provide input for daily and monthly maintenance reports.

6. Safety & Compliance:

• Adhere to and enforce all safety protocols while performing maintenance tasks.
• Ensure compliance with lock-out/tag-out (LOTO), PPE usage, and EHS standards.
• Conduct risk assessments and contribute to a safe and hazard-free work environment.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

• Education: Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience: 36 years in mechanical maintenance in a CNC machining environment, preferably with exposure to stainless steel or heavy component manufacturing.

• Technical Skills:

• Strong knowledge of CNC, VMC, VTL, and Lathe machine mechanics.

• Understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, lubrication systems, and alignment techniques.
