Role Title: Purchase Manager

Educational Qualification: BE/Diploma in mechanical/Production Engineering

Department: Sales

Work Experience 6 - 8 years in industrial equipment manufacturing companies like pumps, motors, valves purchase role with 2 – 3 years in managerial role.

Reports to: CEO

Any other specific requirement: Manage and optimize purchasing activities, processes and be able to negotiate the best possible deals with suppliers

Salary : 6 – 6.5 lakhs

Location: Wadala, Mumbai.

Pre-Requisites:

  • Strategic mindset maintaining positive relationships with suppliers for long term benefits.
  • Strong analytical, critical & logical thinking skills.
  • Ability to focus under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in MS Office essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Setting up the weekly, monthly, quarterly procurement plan for procurement of Materials, Spares & Consumables
  • Negotiation with International/Domestic suppliers for cost reduction to achieve the planned savings.
  • Effective negotiation on price increase proposals from the supplier in line with the market competition and targets.
  • Negotiation for the blanket terms with respect to P2P(Purchase to Pay), Cost Savings, Logistics, and Inventory management agreements.
  • Collecting quotations from at least three vendors and negotiating the prices and other terms & conditions
  • Preparation of Comparative Statement (CS)
  • Finalizing the rates against approval from Head of Department and target given by sales.
  • Responsible for Preparation, sending & Execution of purchase orders on suppliers & sub-contractors.
  • Ensuring timely supply of Materials in line with the Purchase Orders / Production requirements
  • Department Coordination & Inter Departmental Relations
  • Releasing monthly schedules for blanket orders.
  • Expediting with suppliers for on time delivery of material to ensure uninterrupted production.
  • Interaction with Finance & Accounts Dept. to ensure release of payments to the vendors as per supply terms.
  • In case of any rejection of material, interact with the quality control dept. and organize to get the replacement or send it back to the vendors as rejection.
  • Sourcing and negotiation for the best purchase package in terms of quality, price, terms, deliveries, and services with suppliers
  • Introducing new vendors for healthy competition
  • Reconciliation of outstanding balances of Indian and overseas suppliers
  • To cascade and deliver department/ teams targets.
  • To create SOP's (in line with ISO requirements) for the department and ensure adherence by self and team.
  • To timely submit MIS reports to Management
  • To create individual development plans and ensure completion of the same for self and team.
  • To manage, lead and coach team for enhanced performance
  • To adhere to company processes, policies, and rules/ code of conduct
  • Any other task as given by management from time to time.

Key Authorities:

  • Releasing purchase orders which meet the budget constraints & payment terms guidelines given by management.
  • Visiting suppliers for expediting urgent supplies.

  • International/Domestic procurement
  • Drawing reading knowledge.
  • Good vendor base knowledge
  • Estimation of Man / Machine hour rates.
  • Prices updates for Raw materials / OEM
  • Knowledge of global currency
  • Knowledge of Incoterms, Taxation, Logistics and freight.
  • Inventory management
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication abilities
