Steel Foreman

Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced Steel Foreman to supervise and coordinate the work of steel fabrication and erection crews on-site. The Steel Foreman will ensure that all steel reinforcement, fabrication, and erection activities are carried out safely, accurately, and in accordance with project drawings, specifications, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervision & Execution:

• Supervise and coordinate the activities of workers engaged in fabrication, cutting, bending, and fixing of reinforcement steel (rebar) or structural steel erection.
• Interpret and explain construction drawings, bar bending schedules (BBS), and structural details to workers.
• Ensure proper placement, alignment, and tying of reinforcement steel as per approved drawings and codes.
• Monitor welding, bolting, and assembly of structural steel components where applicable.

Quality & Safety:

• Ensure work is performed in accordance with quality standards, safety procedures, and project specifications.
• Inspect and verify steel dimensions, bar spacing, and anchorage before concreting or structural assembly.
• Report any non-conformance, design discrepancies, or safety hazards to the Site Engineer / QA-QC Engineer.

Coordination & Reporting:

• Coordinate with site engineers, surveyors, and formwork teams to ensure smooth workflow and sequencing.
• Manage the daily allocation of manpower, tools, and materials.
• Maintain daily progress reports and communicate updates to the project management team.
• Assist in the planning and requisition of steel materials and ensure proper storage and handling on-site.

Team Management:

• Lead, train, and motivate steel fixers, fabricators, riggers, and helpers.
• Monitor attendance, productivity, and performance of crew members.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Education: Diploma / ITI in Civil, Mechanical, or Structural discipline (preferred).
• Experience: 5–10 years of experience in steel reinforcement or structural steel works, with at least 2 years in a foreman or supervisory role.
• Technical Skills:
• Ability to read and interpret structural drawings and BBS.
• Good knowledge of steel fabrication, rebar detailing, and erection techniques.
• Familiarity with construction tools, equipment, and safety practices.
• Soft Skills:
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to manage a team effectively under tight schedules.
• Attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality.
