Role Summary:

We are seeking an experienced R&D leader to head our BLDC Motor development program focused on HVAC applications. The role will drive specification, prototyping, performance testing, and production readiness for motors used in IDU/ODU applications of air conditioners. The candidate will lead cross-functional development, engage with partners, and manage a dedicated in-house R&D team aligned to next-gen motor standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1.    Lead architecture, performance targets, and system-level design for 10-pole/12-pole BLDC motors used in indoor (IDU) and outdoor (ODU) units of residential and commercial inverter air conditioners

2.    Define electrical, thermal, mechanical, and EMC parameters in alignment with product standards (BIS, BEE, QCO compliance)

3.    Manage the full development lifecycle: concept, electromagnetic design, winding layout, core materials, rotor/stator stack-up, BMC integration, and final validation

4.    Coordinate with electronics/PCB teams for controller integration, firmware loop tuning, and system co-simulation

5.    Oversee lab testing, thermal profiling, noise/vibration characterization, and endurance validation per HVAC duty cycles

6.    Build internal capability on motor modelling (Motor-CAD, JMAG), FEA analysis, and parameter optimization

7.    Engage with domestic and international vendors for magnetics, lamination, shaft components, and motor assembly inputs

8.    Plan for IP generation, patent strategy, and configuration control of designs (rev control, test logs, reliability data)

9.    Support production ramp-up through pilot trials, DFM checks, and line validation in coordination with quality and manufacturing

10. Mentor a multidisciplinary team of design engineers, simulation experts, and test engineers; recruit and grow team as needed

Qualifications:

·       B.E./B.Tech or M.Tech in Electrical/Mechanical/Mechatronics from a reputed institute

· –20 years in motor R&D, including 5+ years leading HVAC/white goods motor programs

·       Proven experience in high-efficiency motor development for air conditioners or fans

Preferred Skills:

·       Deep expertise in BLDC/FHP motor technologies, inverter motor control, and low-noise/high-efficiency motors

·       Proficient in Motor-CAD, Ansys Maxwell, JMAG, MATLAB/Simulink

·       Hands-on with test bench design, motor tuning, and EMI/EMC mitigation techniques
