Job Title: Purchase Manager Heavy Engineering (Fixtures, BOP & Spare Parts)

Department: Purchase / Supply Chain

Reporting To: Head Operations / Plant Head

Location: Ranipet

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly skilled Purchase Manager with strong experience in heavy engineering procurement, specifically in fixtures, bought-out parts (BOP), tools, and spare parts. The role involves strategic sourcing, vendor development, and ensuring timely procurement to support production, maintenance, and project operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan, source, and procure fixtures, jigs, bought-out parts (BOP), machine spares, consumables, and maintenance materials.

Develop and maintain a reliable vendor network for engineering items, machining components, hydraulic/pneumatic parts, and tools.

Coordinate with Design, Production, Maintenance, and Quality teams to understand technical requirements and specifications.

Float enquiries, obtain quotations, prepare comparison sheets, and finalize vendors based on cost, quality, and delivery.

Negotiate commercial terms and ensure cost-effective procurement.

Issue Purchase Orders (POs) in line with organizational procedures.

Monitor supplier performance — quality, delivery, and service levels.

Ensure timely material availability for production, maintenance, and project schedules.

Handle import or special purchases (if applicable) including documentation and logistics coordination.

Identify opportunities for cost reduction, indigenization, and vendor development.

Maintain purchase data and generate regular MIS reports.

Ensure full compliance with company policies, audit requirements, and statutory norms.

Key Skills & Competencies:

Strong technical understanding of fixtures, tooling, machining parts, hydraulics/pneumatics, bearings, and spares.

Exposure to heavy engineering / fabrication / machining industry procurement.

Excellent vendor negotiation and cost analysis abilities.

Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP / Tally / Oracle) and Microsoft Excel.

Strong coordination, communication, and planning skills.

Ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines in a dynamic production environment.

Qualification & Experience:

Education: B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical / Production / Industrial Engineering or equivalent.

Experience: 8–12 years in industrial purchasing within heavy engineering / machine building / fabrication sectors.

Preferred: Experience in procurement of fixtures, BOPs, tooling, and plant spares for large-scale fabrication or machining setups.
