The Impact of Sr. Software Engineering to Coupa:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineering Manager/Lead to lead our Developer Experience and Productivity Engineering team at Coupa. In this leadership position, you will drive the vision, strategy, and execution for our sophisticated AI orchestration platform that leverages Large Language Models and integrates with various Model Context Protocol tools. You'll build and manage a high-performing team focused on delivering Coupa-specific intelligence through strategic integration of internal systems, knowledge bases, and custom tooling, ultimately enhancing developer productivity and experience across the organisation.
What You'll Do:

• Lead and grow a team of engineers focused on developer experience and productivity through AI-powered tools
• Set the technical vision and roadmap for our AI orchestration platform and MCP tools architecture
• Drive architectural decisions focusing on scalability, maintainability, and adoption across engineering teams
• Oversee the development of integration mechanisms connecting our AI platform with MCP systems while providing a unified interface
• Guide the implementation of RAG systems to incorporate Coupa's institutional knowledge into AI decision-making
• Establish security standards for connectors to internal documentation, systems, and data sources
• Champion the development of domain-specific tools that understand Coupa's unique operational environment
• Partner with senior leadership to align developer experience initiatives with broader engineering and business goals
• Mentor team members, foster a culture of innovation, and contribute to engineering best practices
• Measure and improve developer productivity metrics across the organisation

What You Will Bring to Coupa:

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with at least 3+ years in technical leadership roles
• Strong track record of building and leading high-performing engineering teams
• Experience architecting and implementing developer productivity tools and platforms
• Deep understanding of AI/ML concepts, particularly in the context of LLMs and their applications
• Proven ability to drive technical strategy and execution in cloud-native environments (preferably AWS)
• Strong proficiency in Python and RESTful API development
• Solid knowledge of software design patterns, system architecture, and performance optimisation
• Experience with integration of multiple complex systems and APIs
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
• Preferred Qualifications
• Experience building developer platforms that leverage AI capabilities
• Knowledge of vector databases, embeddings, and RAG systems
• Background in improving developer productivity metrics and workflows
• Experience with monitoring tools like New Relic, observability patterns, and SRE practices
• Deep familiarity with Jira, Confluence, GitHub, or other DevOps tools and their APIs
• Understanding of security best practices for AI systems and data access
• Previous work with domain-driven design and microservices architecture
• Track record of building tools that achieve high adoption rates among engineering teams
• Experience with business spend management, procurement, or financial systems
• Prior experience at a high-growth enterprise SaaS company
