Roles and Responsibilities:

Linux Administration

  • Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers (RHEL / CentOS / Ubuntu) across development, testing, and production environments.
  • Perform daily system monitoring tasks including checking CPU, memory, disk utilization, service status, and running processes.
  • Manage user access, groups, permissions, and security policies including sudo rules and SSH key management.
  • Handle file system and storage management including creation and extension of partitions, LVM, and mounting volumes.
  • Perform package and software management using yum / dnf / apt, including updates and patching.
  • Diagnose and resolve OS-related problems using log analysis (var/log/messages, journalctl, dmesg).
  • Create and schedule cron jobs and analyze system performance bottlenecks.
  • Support backup and restore operations and validate data recovery.

Shell Scripting & Automation

  • Develop and maintain automation scripts using Bash / Shell to eliminate manual repetitive tasks.
  • Write scripts for system audits, log monitoring, disk utilization reporting, user provisioning, file transfers, etc.
  • Debug and optimize existing shell scripts for efficiency and reliability.
  • Automate service start/stop, application deployment steps, and system cleanup routines.
  • Use input/output redirection, loops, functions, arrays, and conditional operations effectively.
  • Implement error handling and logging within automation scripts.

Ansible Automation

  • Create, modify, and execute Ansible playbooks to automate configuration, provisioning, and deployments.
  • Build and maintain Ansible inventories (dynamic/static) for multiple server environments.
  • Develop Roles, Handlers, Templates, Variables, and Tags to support complex automation tasks.
  • Use Ansible ad-hoc commands for routine system tasks (e.g. package installation, service restarts, file distribution).
  • Manage secure credentials using Ansible Vault and enforce configuration standardization via YAML.
  • Participate in automation for patch management, middleware deployment, and server configuration compliance.
