Mongo Database Administrator We are seeking a professional DBA with the technical skills and knowledge that extends across Application/ Server/ Storage/ Network technologies to administer a large, complex production DB environment and troubleshoot and provide system level guidance/ solutions. The role also performs executive centralized database administration for multiple databases globally.

This includes MongoDB databases for production, testing, and staging environments across the company. This opportunity will suit an MongoDB DBA who enjoys providing technical guidance and who can play a key role in supporting and driving forward our database developments.   • Install, configure, and upgrade MongoDB databases in on-premise, cloud, and hybrid environments.
  • Ensure high availability and disaster recovery through replication, sharding, and backup strategies.
  • Monitor and maintain database health, capacity planning, and growth forecasting.
  • Analyze database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimizations for queries, indexes, and schema designs.
  • Perform tuning for read/write operations and improve the overall performance of MongoDB clusters.
  • Implement robust database security policies, including access controls, encryption, and auditing.
  • Collaborate with security teams to address vulnerabilities and enforce security best practices.
  • Resolve complex issues related to database operations, replication, and sharding.
  • Work with development teams to design and optimize database schemas for application requirements.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior DBAs and team members.
  • Maintain detailed documentation for configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Prepare and deliver reports on database performance, utilization, and incidents.
  • Create a reliable backup strategy.

Ensure database backups are appropriately executed and periodic restorations are exercised to ensure backup quality.

  • Ensure SLA's & operational KPI's are met, working as necessary with internal and external support functions when major incidents occur.

Required skills

  • In-depth knowledge of MongoDB, including replication, sharding, and aggregation framework.
  • Experience should include DB design (modelling and normalization), capacity planning, performance tuning, storage management, back-up and recovery, managing schemas, report generation and DB clustering technologies.
  • Operating system experience in Linux.
  • Thorough understanding of database technologies (MongoDB, Oracle, PostgreSQL,)
  • Familiar with Architecture design principles.
  • Familiarity with scripting (e.g., Python, Bash).
  • Good problem solver, focused and dedicated with ability to work on your own as well as with a team.
  • Hands on experience with DB standards and end user applications-translating capacity requirements into infrastructure deployment technology.
  • Strong practical experience of MongoDB in a production environment.
  • Must be a self-starter with a strong attention to detail.
  • Experience with an organization with a key reliance on 24x7 reliability on its database.
