This role is under Machine Learning Team (part of Pricing, Analytics and Models team) which works with internal and external stakeholders to deliver leading edge advanced analytical insights to benefit businesses of AXA XL.
What you'll be DOING
What will your essential responsibilities include?
- Support the gathering and validation of data required.
- Combine raw information from different sources.
- Build pipelines to merge, manage, interrogate, and extract data for building modeling data.
- Discover business insights in data using exploratory data analysis.
- Perform statistical analyses of internal and external data to elicit insights into risk which will form the basis of decision support tools.
- Build project methodology; specify statistical models/analysis approach to be used.
- Work closely with pricing actuaries, underwriters, and other stake holders to communicate and receive feedback on insights arising from statistical analyses and adapt analyses accordingly.
- Work with IT to implement models and create architecture to support data collection and validation.
What you will BRING
We're looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Masters in in statistics, mathematics, economics, or another quantitative field.
- Relevant experience in Spark & Databricks preferred.
- Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases.
- Excellent working knowledge of R, Python or similar.
- Ability to work with incomplete and messy data to extract usable information.
- Understanding of core analytical techniques like Cluster & Factor Analysis, Regression, Logistic Regression, GLMs, CART/CHAID/Decision Trees, Data Mining, Machine Learning Algorithms, Sampling Techniques, Design of Experiments etc.
Desired Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; can effectively convey complex concepts to non-analytical people.
- Able to both works well resiliently and collaborate with people from multiple functions.
- Internally driven and intrinsic motivation.
- Possesses natural curiosity and thinks outside the box.
- Robust execution skills.
- Insurance industry experience preferred.
