Position Title: Associate Principal – Stormwater & Drainage

Department: Water / Infrastructure Design

Location: Bengaluru, India

Experience: 15+ Years (with minimum 8 years in core Stormwater & Drainage Design)

Qualification:

• B.E. in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• M.E./M.Tech. in Environmental Engineering, Water Resources, or Hydraulics Engineering preferred.

Position Overview:

The Associate Principal – Stormwater & Drainage will lead the design and delivery of stormwater drainage and flood management projects across diverse geographies. The role involves providing advanced technical direction, mentoring project teams, ensuring quality compliance, and driving innovation in sustainable urban drainage and flood resilience design.

This position requires a blend of
technical excellence, project leadership, and client engagement skills
, ensuring that designs meet international standards, local authority requirements, and multidisciplinary coordination needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership & Design Oversight

• Provide strategic and technical leadership in the
  planning, design, and implementation
  of stormwater and drainage systems for urban and regional developments.
• Oversee and guide the development of
  concept, schematic, detailed, and final designs
  , ensuring design integrity, efficiency, and constructability.
• Review and validate hydrologic and hydraulic models developed using
  SewerGEMS, StormCAD, Civil 3D
  , and other relevant software.
• Lead the preparation and review of
  technical reports, design calculations, and tender documentation
  , ensuring high-quality deliverables that align with client and project requirements.

Project Delivery & Coordination

• Collaborate closely with
  multidisciplinary teams
  (roads, utilities, structures, environment, etc.) to ensure integrated and coordinated design solutions.
• Engage with clients, authorities, and stakeholders to resolve technical queries, align design intent, and support project approvals.
• Drive
  value engineering initiatives
  and design optimization to achieve cost-effective and sustainable solutions.
• Monitor project timelines, resource allocation, and deliverable quality across multiple concurrent assignments.

Mentorship & Technical Excellence

• Mentor and guide design engineers and modellers, fostering a culture of technical learning, innovation, and accountability.
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies, design tools, and global best practices in
  stormwater management, flood resilience, and SuDS (Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems)
  .
• Represent the organization in technical forums, client workshops, and knowledge-sharing sessions.

Quality & Compliance

• Ensure all deliverables conform to
  international design codes and standards
  (e.g., BS, EN, AASHTO, WMO guidelines, and relevant local authority standards).
• Implement rigorous QA/QC procedures in all design stages, from concept through to tender documentation.
• Support technical audits and ensure compliance with company and client-specific quality systems.

Software Proficiency:

Strong command and practical experience in:

• SewerGEMS / StormCAD
  – Hydraulic design and modelling of stormwater networks.
• Autodesk Civil 3D
  – 3D design, grading, and drainage layouts.
• AutoCAD
  – Drafting and design documentation.
• ArcGIS
  – Spatial data analysis, catchment delineation, and mapping.
• MS Office Suite
  – Report preparation, presentations, and project documentation.

Preferred Experience:

• Experience in
  Gulf or international projects
  , with exposure to authority standards and approval processes.
• Proven ability to lead
  large-scale urban stormwater, flood management, and drainage master planning projects
  .
