We are looking for a
Principal Software Engineer – Cluster
to join a project with a major OEM. In this role, you will lead the development of next-generation
digital instrument clusters and head-up displays (HUDs)
. You will combine deep expertise in
Unity-based HMI development
with embedded platform optimization (QNX, Hypervisor) to deliver safe, performant, and visually compelling driver experiences.

As a senior member of the HMI team, you will guide design translation, ensure real-time rendering quality, and mentor developers while collaborating with UX, system, and safety teams.

    31 – 39 LPA (per annum, full-time employee) or ₹1,945 – ₹2,457 per hour (contractor, B2B)

Responsibilities

  • Lead Unity-based HMI development for
    instrument clusters and HUDs
    on QNX embedded platforms
  • Translate UX/UI specifications (Figma, Adobe assets) into production-grade Unity components with design fidelity
  • Architect modular UI frameworks, animation systems, and rendering pipelines (URP/custom)
  • Optimize performance for boot time, memory footprint, FPS, and shader-based visual effects
  • Integrate real-time vehicle data into HMIs using CAN, LIN, and Ethernet protocols
  • Collaborate with UXD/UXE teams on design tokens, responsive layouts, and visual consistency
  • Support hybrid platform integration (Android + QNX) via JNI, AIDL, Android NDK
  • Utilize graphics APIs (OpenGL ES, Vulkan, GLSL/HLSL) for advanced rendering and effects
  • Debug and troubleshoot using GDB, Lauterbach, JTAG, ADB, and profiling tools
  • Work with Agile cross-functional teams, code reviews, and CI/CD pipelines (Git, Gerrit, Jenkins)
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to architecture reviews for HMI solutions

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronics, or related field
  • 10+ years of embedded software development, with strong focus on HMI for automotive systems
  • Expertise in C++, C#, and Python programming
  • Deep Unity engine experience: UI/UX implementation, scene management, animation, prefab structuring, asset bundling, build/runtime optimization
  • Strong knowledge of QNX Neutrino RTOS, QNX Hypervisor, and SoC deployment
  • Familiarity with Qt/QML for simulation or prototype reviews
  • Proficiency with tools: Figma, Photoshop, AfterEffects, Rhapsody (or similar), Davinci Adaptive, CMake, CI/CD workflows
  • Strong debugging and performance tuning expertise for real-time graphics

Preferred:

  • Experience in hybrid QNX + Android integration on SoC platforms
  • Understanding of 3D content pipelines (Blender, Maya, 3ds Max)
  • Experience with safety-compliant HMI design for automotive applications
  • Knowledge of diagnostic stacks (UDS, DoIP) and network security in HMI context
