Job Description: COBOL & OmniScript Developer

Role Summary:

We are seeking a skilled developer with hands-on experience in COBOL and OmniScript to support and enhance legacy systems, develop new modules, and optimize manual processes. The ideal candidate will be responsible for implementing code fixes, writing new programs based on client requirements or regulatory changes, and providing testing and automation support.

Key Responsibilities:

Code Maintenance & Enhancements:

Perform code fixes and enhancements in COBOL and OmniScript applications.

Ensure high-quality and maintainable code aligned with business requirements.

Program Development:

Design and develop new COBOL programs and OmniScript drivers based on client specifications or changes in government guidelines/laws.

Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to understand functional requirements.

Testing & Support:

Provide unit and integration testing support for developed modules.

Assist QA teams during system testing and resolve defects promptly.

Optimization & Automation:

Analyze existing manual processes and identify opportunities for automation.

Implement solutions to improve system performance and reduce manual effort.

Required Skills & Experience:

Strong experience in COBOL programming and OmniScript development.

Proven ability to write, debug, and optimize legacy code.

Experience in developing and maintaining batch and online COBOL modules.

Familiarity with government regulations and ability to translate them into technical requirements.

Hands-on experience in process automation and performance tuning.

Good understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies.
