Medical and clinical duties

  • Administer medications: Distribute and monitor the administration of prescribed medications, including injections and IVs.
  • Monitor health: Check vital signs like blood pressure, heart rate, and temperature, and monitor for changes in the patient's condition.
  • Wound care: Clean and re-dress wounds as needed.
  • Symptom management: Watch for and document symptoms, including new ones, and inform the healthcare team as needed.
  • Emergency response: Be prepared to handle emergencies and provide first aid.

Patient support and daily care

  • Assist with daily activities: Help with personal hygiene,
  • Provide mobility assistance: Help patients move around safely, using mobility aids and performing prescribed exercises.
  • Offer companionship: Provide emotional and social support to patients and their families.
  • Meal preparation: Assist with preparing meals for the patient.

Care coordination and planning

  • Develop care plans: Assess a patient's health to create individualized care plans in collaboration with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
  • Educate patients and families: Teach patients and their families about disease management and home care procedures.
  • Communicate with the team: Report patient progress and any changes in condition to doctors and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Maintain records: Keep detailed records and documentation of the patient's health and care.
