Responsibilities:

  • Lead green field & brown field projects from conceptualization to commissioning

  • Oversee erection, execution, monitoring, planning, estimation, budgeting & review

  • Job Purpose:

  • To lead and manage the overall program management activities for a greenfield steel plant project — from concept to commissioning — ensuring timely execution, quality, cost efficiency, and alignment with strategic business goals.
  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Planning & Execution
  • Lead end-to-end project management of greenfield steel plant setup from conceptualization, design, and engineering to commissioning and stabilization.
  • Define project scope, timelines, cost, and quality objectives in coordination with senior management.
  • Develop detailed project schedules, resource plans, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Coordination & Interface Management
  • Coordinate across cross-functional teams — engineering, procurement, construction, utilities, safety, and quality — to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Act as the primary interface between consultants, contractors, OEMs, and internal stakeholders.
  • Drive alignment between civil, mechanical, electrical, and automation streams.
  • Technical & Commercial Oversight
  • Evaluate and approve technical specifications, drawings, and vendor proposals.
  • Monitor project budgets, contracts, and change management.
  • Ensure adherence to cost targets and timelines through effective tracking mechanisms.
  • Greenfield Project Experience
  • Drive land acquisition, statutory approvals, and infrastructure development.
  • Oversee construction of SMS (Steel Melting Shop), CRM (Cold Rolling Mill), HRM (Hot Rolling Mill), and utilities.
  • Ensure plant layout optimization, capacity planning, and equipment selection.
  • Leadership & Governance
  • Lead a team of project engineers, planners, and site managers.
  • Conduct regular review meetings and progress reports with management and project owners.
  • Implement best practices in EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) and sustainability.
  • Key Skills & Competencies:
  • Proven expertise in greenfield steel plant projects from conception to commissioning.
  • Strong project management and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of SMS, HRM, CRM, DRI, BF, and utilities operations.
  • Excellent communication, vendor management, and stakeholder coordination abilities.
  • Exposure to EPC contracts, budgeting, and scheduling tools (Primavera/MS Project).
  • Qualifications & Experience:
  • B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical / Electrical / Metallurgical / Civil Engineering (MBA preferred).
  • 20+ years of experience in project/program management
