MEP Engineer

An MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) engineer is responsible for designing, installing, and maintaining building systems like HVAC, electrical, and plumbing, ensuring they are functional, safe, and compliant with codes. Key duties include creating technical drawings, overseeing system installation and commissioning, coordinating with other professionals, conducting site inspections, performing quality control, and managing project timelines and budgets. Core responsibilities

• Design and planning: Develop and design MEP systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing) in compliance with project requirements, building codes, and safety standards.
• Installation and commissioning: Supervise the installation, testing, and commissioning of all MEP systems to ensure they function correctly.
• Coordination: Work with architects, contractors, and other engineers to integrate MEP systems seamlessly into the overall project.
• Quality assurance: Conduct regular site inspections and quality control checks to ensure installations meet standards.
• Compliance and safety: Ensure all designs and installations adhere to local codes, safety regulations, and industry standards.
• Troubleshooting and maintenance: Lead efforts to troubleshoot issues with MEP systems and manage preventive maintenance.
• Project management: Prepare project schedules, material lists, cost estimates, and progress reports. Manage and mentor project teams.

Key skills and qualifications

• A degree in mechanical, electrical, or civil engineering is often required.
• Proficiency with design software like AutoCAD and Revit is frequently mentioned.
