Purpose of the Role

To lead and manage the Electronics Manufacturing Shop (PCB), ensuring smooth operations and achievement of production targets, quality standards, on-time delivery, and cost efficiency. Responsible for production planning, resource management, process improvements, and implementation of Lean, 5S, Kaizen, and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce waste. Ensure compliance with EHS, IMS, ISO, BIS, and legal requirements while promoting a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and teamwork. Work closely with Quality, Supply Chain, Maintenance, PE, FA and R&D teams of inhouse and other plants team where PCB has to be dispatched .Ensure proto production, new product introductions, and smooth production flow. Develop and guide a skilled team, manage budgets and resources effectively, and drive overall operational excellence in line with company goals and industry best practices.

Role & responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the overall production operations of the Electronics Manufacturing Shop (PCB), ensuring achievement of daily, weekly, and monthly production targets across all shifts in alignment with production plans, budgeted figures, and organizational goals.
  • Establish and monitor processes to minimize supplier and process rejections, ensuring timely movement from shop floor to store with proper documentation and accountability.
  • Strategically plan manpower deployment, manage shift structures, and oversee Shift Supervisors, drive line balancing projects in coordination with the IE team, analyse production losses, and ensure timely implementation of corrective actions. Conduct regular review meetings, monitor operator skill development, and ensure compliance with Human Rights, POSH, PPE usage, Code of Conduct, and statutory requirements.
  • Lead and participate in cross-functional teams (CFTs) for quality improvement, productivity enhancement, and resource optimization initiatives.
  • Ensure skill development, multiskilling, and continuous capability building across teams, mentor Shift and Production Supervisors and operators to enhance performance and operational flexibility.
  • Champion Lean tools, 5S, Kaizen, CAPA, and monitor OEE/OLE, drive performance improvement, waste reduction, and operational excellence using Six Sigma (Yellow/Green Belt) methodologies.
  • Apply problem-solving and quality tools including 7QC, 5-Why, 6W1H, and FMEA to resolve production defects and implement CAPA.
  • Monitor material consumption, WIP, and BOM compliance, address variances between system Vs actual, and ensure production adherence to DWM and inventory standards.
  • Oversee monthly and quarterly production and inventory plans, coordinate and support inventory audits, and ensure readiness for statutory, IMS, and internal audits.
  • Ensure compliance with EHS standards, including PPE usage, general and hazardous waste management, confined space protocols, and emergency preparedness; promote employee engagement and idea generation for safety and operational improvements.
  • Lead absenteeism and attrition analysis, foster team engagement, development, and bonding to maintain a high-performance culture.
  • Maintain production dashboards, reports, and documentation using MS Office, ERP, and other digital tools for performance tracking and management review.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Quality, R&D, IE, Maintenance, HR, and Stores to eliminate workflow bottlenecks and enhance output, efficiency, and product quality.
  • Serve as the key representative for auditors, vendors, and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with IMS, quality systems, and regulatory requirements.

Skills & Experience

8 to 12+ years of experience in Electrical/Electronics assembly production, with at least 35 years in a leadership/HOD role. Proficient in MS Office, Excel, ERP/SAP, strong knowledge of inventory management, BOM compliance, defect analysis, lean tools (5S, OEE, OLE), and continuous improvement methodologies. Skilled in team leadership, EHS, labour law compliance, IMS, ISO, BIS, ISI, VSM, and QCFI principles. Excellent communication, presentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
