Power System Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform load flow, short circuit, transient stability, and protection coordination studies using standard power system simulation tools.
  • Conduct Grid Impact and Interconnection Studies for new projects and assess their impact on the existing power network.
  • Design and evaluate substation layouts (AIS/GIS), single line diagrams, equipment sizing, and protection schemes.
  • Support concept-to-commissioning activities for large electrical infrastructure and substation projects.
  • Ensure compliance with national and international grid codes (CEA, IEC, IEEE, etc.).
  • Prepare technical reports, design documentation, and system study reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with transmission/distribution utilities, EPC contractors, and consultants during various project phases.
  • Evaluate grid integration requirements for renewable energy projects (solar, wind, hybrid).
  • Participate in technical reviews, risk assessments, and design optimization discussions.

Required Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of Power System Analysis principles and electrical network modeling.
  • Experience with tools such as ETAP, PSSE, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSCAD, or MATLAB Simulink.
  • Working knowledge of substation design (up to 400kV or higher) and grid connectivity standards.
  • Ability to interpret protection schemes, relay coordination, and SCADA/automation systems.
  • Capable of working effectively within a multi-disciplinary, international team. Candidate will be working with US teams and should have exposure dealing with international clients.
  • Excellent analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Qualification & Experience:

  • B.E./B.Tech in Electrical / Power Systems Engineering (M.E./M.Tech preferred).
  • 6 – 10 years of experience in power systems analysis and substation projects with a leading MNC.
  • Prior exposure to transmission/distribution utility projects, renewable integration studies, or grid impact assessments preferred.
