Purpose of The Role
The Assistant Manager Procurement & Contracts, will be responsible for managing sourcing & procurement activities related to all and any engineering equipment, machinery, spare parts, and services including IT and IT related services procurement. This role involves sourcing, supplier management, contract negotiation, cost optimization, and ensuring timely delivery of quality materials to support JWC Operations team.
Job Accountabilities
Procurement Operations:
- Develop and execute procurement strategies for IT & engineering equipment and services.
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, ensuring alignment with company requirements.
- Manage end-to-end procurement processes, including RFQs, tenders, and bid evaluations.
- Prepare and issue purchase orders in alignment with procurement SOP & Policies.
Vendor Management:
- Build and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure reliable sourcing.
- Assess vendor performance based on quality, delivery, and pricing.
- Conduct vendor audits and negotiate long-term agreements with key suppliers
Cost Management:
- Drive cost optimization by negotiating favorable terms and contracts.
- Monitor market trends, pricing, and availability to ensure cost competitiveness.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
Compliance and Documentation:
- Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of procurement transactions, contracts, and reports.
- Collaborate with legal teams to review and finalize contracts.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with IT, engineering, maintenance, and project teams to understand material and services requirements and timelines.
- Collaborate with finance and logistics teams to ensure smooth payment and delivery processes.
KPI Monitoring:
- Monitor key procurement metrics (e.g., cost savings, delivery times, and supplier performance).
- Prepare and present regular procurement reports to management.
Stores Management:
- Overview stores in collaboration with Store Manager to ensure regular fulfilment of Par Stocks
- Regular check on inventory and material management in SAP
Education Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Professional certifications (e.g., CPM, CSCP, or similar) are an advantage.
Experience
- 5+ years of experience in procurement, with a focus on engineering-related materials and services.
- Experience in negotiating contracts and managing vendor relationships
Functional Skills
- Strong understanding of engineering equipment, spare parts, and services
- Analytical mindset with proficiency in data analysis and procurement software (e.g., SAP, MS Excels, Power point & Power BI)
- Knowledge of import/export procedures and regulations (if applicable)
