Job Title: R&D Chemist

Department: Research & Development

Location: Taloja

Reports to: R&D Head / Sr. Manager – R&D

Job Purpose:

To support product and process development through research, formulation, synthesis, and scale-up activities, ensuring innovative, cost-effective, and sustainable chemical solutions that meet customer and business requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research, synthesis, and formulation of specialty chemicals as per project requirements.
  • Assist in developing new products and improving existing formulations to enhance performance, yield, and cost efficiency.
  • Execute lab-scale reactions, analyze results, and document observations meticulously.
  • Support in process optimization and scale-up activities from lab to pilot and plant levels.
  • Prepare and maintain technical reports, lab notebooks, and analytical data.
  • Collaborate with QC, Production, and Process Engineering teams for technology transfer and process validation.
  • Perform literature review and patent search to support R&D innovation and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure safe laboratory practices, adherence to EHS guidelines, and proper waste management.
  • Assist in preparing Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and process safety documentation.
  • Provide technical support to customers and internal teams when required.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • M.Sc. in Chemistry / Organic Chemistry / Analytical Chemistry

Experience:

  • 1–5 years of experience in R&D, synthesis, or product development in the chemical industry.
  • Experience in specialty chemicals, fine chemicals, intermediates, or polymers preferred.
  • Exposure to process scale-up and analytical characterization techniques (GC, HPLC, FTIR, NMR, etc.) desirable.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of organic and inorganic reaction mechanisms.
  • Hands-on experience in chemical synthesis, process optimization, and analytical testing.
  • Good documentation and reporting skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, ChemDraw, and analytical data interpretation.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and teamwork abilities.
  • High commitment to safety, quality, and innovation.

Key Deliverables:

  • Successful development and optimization of new formulations and processes.
  • Timely preparation of R&D reports and technology transfer documents.
  • Compliance with safety standards and regulatory documentation.
  • Contribution to process cost reduction, quality improvement, and innovation initiatives.
