Job Summary :

We are seeking a highly experienced SAP ABAP Developer with 8+ years of specialized experience in S/4HANA to join a high-impact, remote Greenfield Implementation project in the S/4HANA Private Cloud (PCE) environment. This role is focused on driving clean-core development and modernization, requiring deep proficiency in ABAP Cloud principles, SAP Fiori elements, CDS (Core Data Services), and the ABAP RESTful Application Programming Model (RAP). The developer will be instrumental in building upgrade-safe, scalable extensions that preserve the platform's agility.

Key Responsibilities :

Clean-Core Development and Architecture :

- Execute ABAP Cloud-compliant coding practices, strictly utilizing only released APIs and whitelisted objects to ensure upgrade safety and stability.

- Design and implement complex data models using CDS views with annotations, exposing data via OData services.

- Develop business objects using the RAP (ABAP RESTful Application Programming Model), including implementations for draft functionality, advanced validations, and EML (Entity Manipulation Language).

- Build modern user interfaces using Fiori elements UIs, driven by metadata-driven annotations and relevant enhancement logic.

Modernization and Performance Optimization :

- Refactor legacy classic ABAP code and processes to leverage HANA-optimized SQL and AMDP (ABAP Managed Database Procedures) patterns.

- Wrap existing classic logic with released APIs and actively drive the initiative for de-customization to simplify the core system landscape.

- Conduct thorough performance tuning using standard tools like SAT/ST12 and SQL Monitor to meet established performance SLAs.

Quality, Lifecycle Management, and Integration :

- Ensure code quality through mandatory development of comprehensive ABAP Unit tests and proactive execution of ATC (ABAP Test Cockpit) checks.

- Manage and govern the exemption process for ATC findings.

- Collaborate with DevOps teams on CI/CD integration processes using tools like CTS+/gCTS (git-enabled CTS).

- Implement robust integration and data handling solutions, including service exposure for CPI/APIM, and standard handling for IDoc/BAPI communications.

- Execute data migration/extraction tasks utilizing modern methods such as ODP, CDS, and released APIs.

Qualifications :

Experience : Mandatory 8+ years of dedicated ABAP development experience, with significant exposure to S/4HANA.

Modern ABAP Stack (Mandatory) : Strong, hands-on expertise in CDS, RAP, OData service development, BAdIs, SQL on HANA, and advanced performance tuning techniques.

Architecture : In-depth understanding of clean-core development and ABAP Cloud principles.

Tools : Proficiency with ADT (ABAP Development Tools) in Eclipse and familiarity with quality and lifecycle management tools (ATC, SAT/ST12, CTS+).

Preferred Skills :

- Practical experience with gCTS (git-enabled CTS), Git, and direct contribution to CI/CD pipelines.

- Experience with Steampunk (BTP ABAP Environment).

- Knowledge of the new Output Management Framework in S/4HANA.

- Expertise in Security/DCL (Data Control Language) for secure data access via CDS views.

- Ability to mentor junior SAP resources and effectively communicate complex technical concepts in virtual team environments.
