We are looking for a hands-on Data Engineer who would join UBS Group Technology in the build-out and implementation of the firms Enterprise Data Mesh to make a step change in the management of data in the bank.

You will:

• Build an enterprise data mesh linking our data
• Ensure Data Architecture for IT enables transition to real time access to data
• Institute 'knowledge-as-a-service' approach – allowing management of the technical landscape

Your team

You will be part of a nimble and multi-disciplinary Data Engineering team within Group CTO working closely with specialists across multiple areas of Group Technology. We are providing the foundation for data-driven technology management – facilitating processes starting from strategic and architecture planning, to demand management - all the way to development and deployment.

The team is global based primarily in India, Switzerland, UK and the US.

Your expertise

You have:

• Having a great track record delivering hands-on development and design of data platforms; ideally API-driven data/knowledge-as-a-service solutions.
• Strong command of Python. Should be well versed implementing python code using object oriented principles, functional programming & data structures.
• Good knowledge on SQL query implementation and database concepts.
• Knowledge around working with data storage technologies open table formats like delta lakes, iceberg.
• Experience building modern solutions using Azure cloud native technologies.
• Able to understand and work on compute technologies for big data processing.
• Command of application, data and infrastructure architecture disciplines
• Experience working in delivery-oriented agile teams.

Desired:

• Strong command of Python. Other languages are desirable (Java,Scala etc)
• Hands-on experience with Spark & SQL technologies
• Exposure to cloud development with Azure and or AWS
• Experience designing RESTful and GraphQL APIs
• Familiarity with Data Warehousing, logging, alerts and infrastructure set up
• Prior experience as a Data Platform Engineer or Data Architect
• Financial Services background is advantageous, but not mandatory
• Experience delivering solutions for Data Analytics users of e.g. Tableau, PowerBI
• Experience with Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence is a plus

• Willing to take full ownership of the problem and code, and can hit the ground running and deliver great solutions
• A strong thinker that sees problems around the corner and resolves them
• Adept in communicating with both technical and non-technical audiences
