Role Description

  • We're a fast-moving startup looking for a Video Editor Intern to turn raw footage into high-retention social content for our Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, LinkedIn, and X. You'll own edits end-to-end from rough cut to publish-ready optimizing for hook, pace, and watch time.

What you'll do

  • Edit short-form videos (15–90 sec); occasional long-form cutdowns (2–8 min).
  • Craft strong hooks in the first 1–3 seconds; optimize pacing, cuts, and transitions for retention.
  • Add subtitles (SRT/burn-in), emojis, callouts, and lightweight motion graphics.
  • Color-correct, audio clean (noise reduction, EQ, levels), and mix for platform norms.
  • Create thumbnail frames and simple titles that pop on mobile.
  • Adapt aspect ratios and exports per platform (9:16, 1:1, 16:9; H.264/H.265).
  • Maintain a library of templates, presets, LUTs, and brand assets; apply consistently.
  • Source royalty-free music, SFX, and b-roll; track licenses and usage rights.
  • Version, organize, and back up project files; name assets cleanly.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team on briefs; deliver first cuts within 24 hours of footage handoff.
  • Iterate quickly from feedback and A/B test variations (hook text, caption style, thumbnail).
  • Track simple performance metrics (view-through rate, avg watch time, completion rate) to inform edits.

What makes you a great fit

  • You've edited short-form videos for yourself or a brand—share 3–5 links (Reels/Shorts/portfolio).
  • Proficiency in any of: Premiere Pro, Final Cut, CapCut, DaVinci Resolve; basic After Effects is a plus.
  • Comfortable with subtitles (SRT), auto-transcription tools, and accessibility best practices.
  • Eye for typography, layout, and color; bonus if you can do quick social graphics in Canva or Figma.
  • Basic understanding of codecs, bitrates, export settings, and file sizes for social upload.
  • Meme literacy and trend awareness without losing brand voice.
  • Organized, responsive, and unafraid of tight turnarounds.
