Role & Responsibilities of Planning Manager in Construction and Engineering

  • Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and timelines ensuring all phases of construction projects are well-coordinated.
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement corrective actions to meet deadlines.
  • Coordinate with design, engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure alignment and resource availability.
  • Prepare and present regular progress reports to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Manage resource allocation and optimize utilization to improve project efficiency and cost control.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to avoid project delays.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and statutory regulations.
  • Lead planning meetings, workshops, and reviews with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Use project management software and tools for effective scheduling and tracking.
  • Facilitate communication between project teams, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Support contract management by providing project timelines and progress documentation.

Preferred Candidate Profile for Planning Manager in Construction and Engineering

  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; a Master's degree is a plus.
  • Minimum 7–10 years of experience in project planning, scheduling, and control within construction or engineering sectors.
  • Proficient in project management software (such as Primavera P6, MS Project).
  • Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, engineering standards, and contract management.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and risk management skills.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance requirements in construction projects.
  • PMP or equivalent project management certification is preferred.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with strong organizational skills.
