Role & responsibilities

Will order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe medications as directed by the treating

Consultant Update doctors instructions in the EMR ;

  1. Transcription: Listening to audio recordings of medical dictations, including patient histories,

physical exams, diagnostic tests, procedures, and treatments, and accurately transcribing

them into written reports.

  1. Medical Terminology: Understanding and accurately interpreting medical terminology,

abbreviations, and acronyms used in healthcare documentation.

  1. Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Ensuring the accuracy of transcribed documents by

carefully listening to dictations, verifying information, and proofreading for errors in

grammar, punctuation, and formatting.

  1. Confidentiality: Maintaining strict confidentiality and adhering to privacy regulations, such

as HIPAA, to protect patient information.

  1. Efficiency and Timeliness: Meeting deadlines and completing transcription tasks in a timely

manner to ensure that medical reports are available for patient care, billing, and

administrative purposes.

  1. Technology Utilization: Proficiency in using transcription equipment and software tools, as

well as familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and word processing

software.

  1. Communication: Collaborating with healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses,

and medical transcription supervisors, to clarify dictations and ensure accurate

documentation.

  1. Continuous Learning: Staying updated on medical terminology, procedures, and industry

standards through ongoing training and professional development.
