Role: Interventional Cardiologist
About the institution: A nationally accredited (NABH) 500-bed teaching hospital and major healthcare provider in the North East region, dedicated to world-class medical care. Established decades ago, it operates numerous general and super specialties with 24x7 advanced services.
About the department: The well-established Cardiology Department has been functional for over a decade. The department is equipped with essential infrastructure including a fully operational, state-of-the-art Catheterization Laboratory (Cath Lab) and is supported by a dedicated 5-bed Coronary Care Unit (CCU) and a large, multi-specialty Intensive Care complex. Diagnostics include Holter monitoring, Stress Testing, and advanced Echocardiography (including Transesophageal Echocardiography [TEE] and strain imaging). The department currently manages approximately 1000 inpatient and outpatient cases annually and is supported by a non-interventional cardiology physician.
Mandatory qualifications: DM Cardiology or DNB-SS Cardiology.
The degree must be recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC).
Key experience and technical expertise
Minimum Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience post-MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS (DM Cardiology or DNB-SS Cardiology) is required.
Exceptional Candidates: Candidates with 1-4 years of experience prior to obtaining the MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS, and at least 1 year of experience post-MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS, will be considered.
Technical Proficiency (Subject-Specific Expertise): Extensive documented experience in performing a wide range of invasive cardiac procedures, including and emphasizing the departmental offerings such as:
- Coronary Angioplasty (PTCA) with Stenting (including Drug-Eluting Stents) and Coronary Angiography.
- Percutaneous Device Closure procedures (e.g., ASD, VSD, PDA).
- Balloon Valvuloplasty (Mitral, Aortic, Pulmonary Stenosis) and Coarctoplasty.
- Permanent Pacemaker Implantation (PPI) and complex Cardiac Catheterization.
Clinical Leadership: Experience in leading clinical teams, departmental development, and managing cardiac emergencies in a care setting.
Academic Focus: Relevant work experience and active participation in academic activities within recognised universities, medical colleges, or teaching hospital environments is a key area of focus.
Key responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership for the Cardiology Department, working to lead and strengthen interventional services.
- Perform scheduled and emergency invasive cardiac procedures and interventions (24x7 support).
- Offer comprehensive cardiac consultant services to Outpatient Department (OPD) and inpatient admissions.
- Manage critical care patients within the Coronary Care Unit (CCU).
- Contribute to clinical training, research, and departmental development initiatives.
Compensation and benefits
Remuneration: Highly competitive salary package ranging from approximately 4,00,000 to 8,00,000 INR per month (incl. retention bonus that will be paid at the end of 1st year and 2nd year tenure. The successful candidate will be eligible for variable pay - Clinical Incentive), commensurate with experience.
Retention Bonus/Incentives: The compensation structure includes a retention bonus paid at the end of the first and second year of tenure, and eligibility for a variable pay component (Clinical Incentive).
