L2 NOC Engineer

Kerala Vision is urgently hiring Senior NOC Engineer across Kerala.

Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced and highly skilled ISP Network Engineer L2 to provide advanced support and maintenance for our network infrastructure. This role is responsible for resolving escalated network issues, configuring and optimizing network devices, and assisting in the design and deployment of new services. The L2 engineer will work closely with the NOC, customers, and L1 engineers to ensure the highest level of network performance and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Advanced Network Troubleshooting:
• Handle escalated network issues from L1 engineers, including complex LAN/WAN problems, routing, switching, and security issues.
• Diagnose and resolve performance issues in routing, switching, and firewall configurations.
• Troubleshoot BGP, OSPF, MPLS, and other advanced routing protocols.
• Network Configuration & Optimization:
• Configure, maintain, and optimize routers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices.
• Implement and manage advanced routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, etc.) to ensure network efficiency.
• Optimize network performance by analyzing traffic patterns and recommending upgrades or reconfigurations.
• Service Delivery & Implementation:
• Assist in designing and deploying network services for new customers, including IP addressing, VLAN configuration, and QoS (Quality of Service).
• Configure and maintain MPLS, VPNs, and other advanced ISP services.
• Collaborate with vendors and third-party service providers to integrate new services or resolve hardware/software issues.
• Network Security & Monitoring:
• Implement and manage firewall rules, access control lists (ACLs), and security policies to protect the network.
• Monitor the network for security vulnerabilities and ensure compliance with best practices.
• Analyze logs and traffic data to identify and mitigate potential threats or performance issues.
• Mentorship & Collaboration:
• Provide guidance and mentorship to L1 engineers, assisting them with complex troubleshooting and skill development.
• Collaborate with the NOC, senior engineers, and vendors to ensure seamless network operations and service delivery.
• Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for critical network incidents and propose preventive measures.
• Documentation & Reporting:
• Maintain and update detailed network diagrams, configuration files, and technical documentation.
• Ensure that all incidents and troubleshooting steps are thoroughly documented in the ticketing system.
• Prepare reports on network performance, outages, and service delivery metrics.
• Routine Maintenance & Upgrades:
• Participate in network upgrades, patching, and firmware updates to ensure the network remains secure and up-to-date.
• Assist in capacity planning and forecasting for network growth.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Education:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Technical Expertise:
• Strong understanding of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, QoS, and VPNs.
• Proficiency in routing protocols like BGP, OSPF, and MPLS.
• Experience with network hardware such as routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers from vendors like Cisco, Juniper.
• Knowledge of network security principles, including firewalls, ACLs, and VPNs.
• Familiarity with IPv6, its deployment, and best practices for integration.
• Certifications:
• Relevant certifications such as CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional), JNCIP (Juniper Networks Certified Internet Professional) are highly preferred.
• Experience:
• 2-5 years of experience in a networking role, preferably within an ISP environment.
• Hands-on experience with troubleshooting advanced network issues and configuring complex network setups.
• Soft Skills:
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities to work with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to work under pressure, manages multiple tasks, and responds to emergencies promptly.

Desirable Skills:

• Knowledge of FTTH, GPON, and other ISP technologies.
• Familiarity with network monitoring tools like Librenms, Grafana, PRTG or similar.
• Hands-on experience with network devices (Cisco, Juniper, MikroTik).
• In-depth knowledge of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, MPLS).

Pay: ₹25, ₹45,000.00 per month
