Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Costing and Estimation Engineer to join our Defence Engineering Division. In this role, you will be responsible for developing benchmark pricing, manufacturing cost estimations, and comprehensive project cost analysis for mechanical and fabricated components. Your technical and commercial expertise will support strategic decision-making, ensure cost optimization, and enhance project profitability while maintaining compliance with defence quality and production standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and analyze detailed cost estimates for mechanical, fabricated, and machined components used in defence applications.
  • Review and interpret technical drawings, 3D models, and engineering specifications to determine material, process, and manpower requirements.
  • Coordinate with Design, Production, Procurement, and Quality departments to collect data for accurate cost evaluation.
  • Develop benchmark pricing models and maintain standard costing data for repeat projects and assemblies.
  • Evaluate vendor quotations and perform cost comparisons for in-house and outsourced manufacturing.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities through material selection, process improvement, and design optimization.
  • Prepare cost summaries, variance reports, and management presentations for decision-making.
  • Maintain and update ERP and PLM systems with cost, BOM, and process data.
  • Support bid preparation and tender costing for defence projects and ensure compliance with industry regulations.
  • Ensure strict confidentiality and adherence to defence security protocols and company policies.

Educational Qualification:

B.Tech / B.Sc in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent discipline from a recognized institution.

Experience Required:

3 to 5 years of relevant experience in cost estimation, fabrication, and manufacturing, preferably in the defence or heavy engineering industry.

Key Skills Required:

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, machining, and fabrication methods.
  • Knowledge of metal fabrication, surface treatment, and coating techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks (with PLM integration) or equivalent 3D design software.
  • Excellent command of MS Excel and familiarity with ERP systems.
  • Knowledge of industrial raw materials and defence specifications.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
