Senior Sitecore Engineer (810 years) .NET & Azure

Role Summary

Lead the design, development, and operation of enterprise-grade CMS websites on Sitecore (XM/XP/XM Cloud) using .NET on Microsoft Azure. Own architecture, delivery quality, performance, security, and DevOps for multi-site, multi-language, personalized digital experiences.

Key Responsibilities

• Architecture & Design

• Define Sitecore solution architecture aligned to Helix principles, multi-tenant patterns, and content modeling best practices (Data/Feature/Project layers).

• Select hosting model (XM/XP on-prem/PAAS vs XM Cloud), topologies (CM/CD), and integration patterns (REST/GraphQL, webhooks, event-driven).

• Plan content governance: templates, standard values, branching/cloning, workflows, roles & permissions.

• Development

• Build components with ASP.NET Core, Razor, SXA (renderings/partials), (headless), and Sitecore GraphQL endpoints.

• Implement personalization (rules/segments), A/B testing, and xConnect data capture (if XP).
• Create pipelines, processors, commands, custom facets, and search indexes (Solr/Azure Cognitive Search).

• Serialization with Unicorn or TDS; enforce code conventions and Helix layer boundaries.

• Cloud & DevOps (Azure)

• Provision and operate App Service / AKS, Front Door, Azure CDN, Application Gateway/WAF, Key Vault, App Configuration, Storage, SQL Database, Redis, Service Bus, Cosmos DB (as required).

• CI/CD with Azure DevOps/GitHub Actions: build pipelines, gated PRs, content serialization promotion, blue-green/canary releases.

• IaC using Bicep/Terraform/ARM; environment strategy (Dev/Test/Stage/Prod), slot swaps, config transforms.

• Search & Discovery

• Configure Solr schemas/cores, synonyms, relevancy tuning; or integrate Azure Cognitive Search/Coveo/Sitecore Search.

• Implement faceted search, autosuggest, and SEO-friendly URLs/sitemaps.

• Performance, Reliability & Observability

• Apply caching layers (Sitecore HTML/output cache, item/cache keys, Redis), image optimization, CDN strategies.

• Load/soak testing, capacity planning, autoscale rules.

• Telemetry with Application Insights/Log Analytics, custom KPIs, error budgets, SLOs; dashboard and alerting setup.

• Security & Compliance

• AuthN/Z via Azure AD / Entra ID / B2C (OIDC/OAuth2), role-based access, Managed Identity.

• Secrets rotation (Key Vault), WAF rules, bot protection, DDoS mitigation.
• OWASP Top 10 hardening, CSP, SameSite, TLS, and data privacy (GDPR/CCPA).

• Content workflow approvals & audit trails.

• Content & Marketing Integrations

• Content Hub, DAM, Sitecore Personalize & CDP, OrderCloud (commerce), EXM (where applicable).

• CRM/MA integration (Dynamics 365/HubSpot/Marketo), analytics pipelines, consent management.

• Quality Engineering

• Unit/integration tests (xUnit/NUnit), API contract tests, UI tests (Playwright), accessibility (WCAG 2.2), performance budgets, security scans (SCA/SAST/DAST).

• Code reviews, technical debt management, documentation.

• Leadership & Stakeholder Management

• Mentor developers, run architecture reviews, estimate and plan sprints, collaborate with designers/SEO/content ops.

• Conduct root-cause analysis and continuous improvements.

Required Skills & Experience

• 810 years total; 5+ years hands-on with Sitecore (v9–v10 and/or XM Cloud).
• Strong C# / .NET 6+ / ASP.NET Core, Razor, REST/GraphQL, JavaScript/TypeScript; exposure to for headless.
• Deep knowledge of Helix, SXA, JSS, serialization (Unicorn/TDS), Sitecore pipelines/events, item architecture.
• Search expertise with Solr or Azure Cognitive Search (schema, analyzers, relevancy).
• Proven Azure experience: App Service/AKS, Front Door, CDN, SQL, Redis, Key Vault, App Config, Monitor/App Insights, Storage, Service Bus.
• CI/CD (Azure DevOps/GitHub Actions), IaC (Bicep/Terraform), release management, environment promotion.
• Performance tuning (profiling, caching strategies), CDN optimization, image/media best practices.
• Security fundamentals (OAuth/OIDC, JWT, MSI), OWASP, WAF, secrets hygiene.
• SEO & web vitals: semantic markup, structured data, sitemaps, redirects, canonicalization.
• Excellent communication, estimation, and stakeholder engagement.

• Sitecore XM Cloud enablement/migration experience.
• Sitecore Personalize/CDP, Content Hub, OrderCloud, EXM.
• Commerce stack (Sitecore Commerce, OrderCloud, or alternative).
• Coveo/Sitecore Search advanced tuning.
• Headless at scale with ISR/SSG/SSR; edge rendering via Vercel/Azure Front Door.
• Containerization (Docker), Kubernetes (AKS) with GitOps (Flux/Argo).
• Multi-region DR, RTO/RPO planning, backup/restore drills.
• Certifications: Sitecore 10 Developer, Sitecore XM Cloud, Microsoft Azure Architect/Developer.

Education

• B.E./B.Tech/MCA in Computer Science or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
