Position: Assistant Scientific Officer (Research Associate)

Job Summary: The Assistant Scientific Officer supports laboratory operations and scientific research activities in the area of microbiology, biotechnology, and molecular biology. The role involves conducting laboratory experiments, maintaining equipment, ensuring compliance with quality and biosafety standards, collecting and analyzing data, and assisting senior scientific staff in ongoing research and development activities.

Qualification:

• M.Sc. (Microbiology/Biotechnology/Molecular Biology, similar discipline)
• Minimum 2 years of relevant research experience
• (Only Female Candidates). Immediate Joiners Preferred

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Conduct laboratory research and perform data analysis to support various research projects.
• Execute research studies and analyze data using a variety of research methods and tools.
• Prepare reports and presentations summarizing research findings and conclusions.
• Maintenance of equipment and performing relevant checks specific to testing.
• Prepare and analyze biological samples using a variety of techniques, including PCR, gel electrophoresis, and cell culture.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and troubleshoot any issues that arise to ensure optimal functionality.
• Document experimental procedures and results accurately, contributing to technical reports and scientific publications.
• Assist in the development and optimization of new protocols to enhance research efficiency.
• Adhere to safety and regulatory guidelines to maintain a safe laboratory environment.
• Perform microbiological analyses, including culture preparation, microbial isolation, identification, and enumeration.
• Maintain microbial strains, culture banks, and related documentation.
• Prepare media, reagents, and microbial cultures following SOPs.
• Assist in routine molecular biology techniques such as PCR, electrophoresis, and DNA/RNA extractions.
• Assist in bioprocessing and fermentation experiments when required.
• Maintain laboratory reagents, consumables, and equipment used in biotechnology workflows.
• Maintain laboratory cleanliness, equipment calibration logs, and consumable inventories.
• Follow all safety protocols, waste management procedures, and ethical guidelines.
• Accurately document experimental procedures, observations, and results in lab notebooks or digital systems.
• Participate in regular team meetings and progress discussions.

ABOUT SCALENE

Scalene established the Scalene Energy Research Institute or SERI in 2002 with the aim of bringing technologies in the area of Sustainable Energy, Oil and Gas, down- stream processing, storage, Electricity Generation, and the Extremely Efficient Solar Hydrogen (EESH) technology etc. Many years of research has finally culminated into SERIGAS-SPARSE Technology one of the most efficient biomethanization process. SERI developed the MIBR reactor technology, the carbon-dioxide rebreather technology for storage of Natural Gas at low pressure and high volume and the Spiral Protium Accelerated Reactor Super Enrichment or SPARSE for enriching fuels for engines in the last nine years. Based on these technologies, a 20 ton plant based on water hyacinth based GAS and power plant was built at the S-CARD campus as a Technology Demonstrator.
