Role Summary
Responsible for accurately coding and billing emergency department services using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes. Ensures compliance with coding guidelines and supports revenue optimization.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and analyze medical records for E/M services, procedures, and diagnoses
- Assign appropriate codes following federal, state, and payer-specific regulations
- Collaborate with providers to resolve documentation issues
- Conduct audits and provide feedback to improve coding accuracy
- Stay updated on coding standards and regulatory changes
Qualifications
- Certification: CPC, COC, CCS, or equivalent
- Experience: Minimum 1.5 years in ED coding
- Skills: ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, medical terminology, attention to detail, communication
