Position Overview:

As a BMS & IoT Engineer, you will play a crucial role in connecting battery hardware to intelligent software systems. Your responsibilities will include extracting, processing, and transmitting live battery data from Battery Management Systems (BMS), Energy Storage Systems (ESS), and IoT gateways into cloud platforms and the Aeternus mobile applications. You will collaborate with Kintech's battery R&D team (hardware/firmware) and Aeternus's software teams (mobile, cloud, backend) to ensure seamless, real-time monitoring, analytics, and control of smart energy systems.

Key Responsibilities:

BMS & Hardware:

• Gain a comprehensive understanding of BMS architecture, firmware, and control logic.
• Work with critical parameters: State of Charge (SoC), State of Health (SoH), cycle count, cell voltages, alarms, balancing, and charge/discharge limits.
• Develop and maintain register maps, CAN IDs, and Modbus documentation.
• Support firmware debugging and validation with factory R&D teams.

IoT & Gateways:

• Integrate BMS data with IoT edge devices (ESP32, Raspberry Pi, industrial gateways).
• Implement protocol conversions: CAN / Modbus / RS-485 → JSON / MQTT.
• Develop agents/scripts (Python, Embedded C, ) for real-time polling and publishing.
• Ensure secure communication (TLS, certificates, keys) from device to cloud.

Cloud & Server:

• Design and maintain data ingestion pipelines on AWS/Azure.
• Utilise AWS IoT Core, Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, and S3 for scalable telemetry handling.
• Collaborate with backend engineers to define REST APIs and WebSocket endpoints.
• Optimise real-time and historical data for dashboards, alerts, and reports.

Collaboration & Testing:

• Align hardware and software teams for end-to-end BMS data flow.
• Validate integration: BMS → Gateway → Cloud → Aeternus Mobile App (iOS/Android).
• Provide comprehensive documentation, API specifications, and training to developers and QA teams.
• Conduct field tests with live hardware and production environments.

Qualifications:

• 3–6 years of experience in BMS, IoT, Embedded Systems, or Cloud Integration.
• Strong knowledge of battery systems (Li-ion / LFP), SoC, SoH, safety & protections.
• Expertise in communication protocols: CAN bus (J1939, CANopen), Modbus RTU/TCP, RS-485, UART, BLE.
• Hands-on experience with IoT protocols: MQTT, REST, WebSockets.
• Experience with cloud services (AWS IoT Core, API Gateway, Lambda, DynamoDB, S3).
• Familiarity with tools: CANalyzer, Modbus Poll, oscilloscopes, battery testers.
• Proficiency in Python, Embedded C, or for IoT edge development.
• Strong debugging skills across hardware and software.
• Excellent communication and documentation abilities to bridge R&D and software teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's/Master's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Embedded Systems, or Mechatronics.
• Experience with EV batteries, ESS, or renewable energy BMS.
• Knowledge of safety standards: IEC 62619, AIS-156, UN38.3, ISO 26262.
• Exposure to mobile app workflows (real-time data, notifications, dashboards).
