About the role
We're looking for a seasoned
.NET Core
developer who's also an ERP domain expert — someone who can design, build and maintain modules across
Accounting, Inventory, Production, Sales & Distribution, and Payroll
. You'll join a product/implementation team that delivers end-to-end ERP functionality for manufacturing & distribution customers. This is a hands-on role: coding, architecture, integration, process design, and mentoring juniors.
Key responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain backend services and APIs using
.NET Core
(C#) for ERP modules: Accounting, Inventory, Production, Sales & Distribution, Payroll. - Translate functional requirements (GL, AP/AR, stock movements, BOM, routings, shop floor, invoices, tax, payroll calculations) into robust data models and services.
- Lead or contribute to system architecture: multi-tenant setups, modular services, integration patterns (REST, gRPC, message queues).
- Implement business rules: ledger posting, stock valuation methods (FIFO/LIFO/Weighted), BOM explosion, work orders, costing, tax calculations, payroll components (earnings, deductions, statutory compliance).
- Integrate ERP with external systems: banks, Tally/QuickBooks (if required), barcode/label printers, payroll providers, e-commerce, shipping APIs.
- Ensure data integrity: transactions, journal entries, stock reconciliations, audit trails.
- Optimize performance for heavy transactional workloads (batch processing, bulk imports/exports).
- Define and enforce API contracts, security (authz/authn), and role-based access controls for ERP modules.
- Create / review technical specifications, unit & integration tests, and deployment pipelines (CI/CD).
- Mentor junior developers, help product & implementation teams with domain-specific guidance and troubleshooting.
- Participate in customer calls to clarify functional behavior, propose solutions, and provide estimates for customization.
Must-have technical skills
- Strong C# & .NET Core
(6/7/8 depending on stack) development experience. - Solid experience designing & building
RESTful APIs
and microservices. - Deep domain knowledge across ERP functional areas:
- Accounting:
Chart of accounts, double-entry bookkeeping, journal entries, closing periods, financial reports (Balance Sheet, P&L), tax handling. - Inventory:
Stock master, movements (issue/receive/transfer), stock valuation methods, stock reservations, cycle counts. - Production:
BOM, routings, work orders, production scheduling, capacity planning, shop-floor transactions, partial/backflush consumption. - Sales & Distribution:
Quotation → Order → Delivery → Invoice flows, pricing/discount rules, returns, shipments, van sales. - Payroll:
Salary components, gross/net pay calculation, statutory contributions (PF/ESI/others as applicable), month-end processing, salary reversals. - Relational DB expertise (SQL Server / PostgreSQL): schema design, stored procedures, transactions, query optimization.
- Experience with
ORMs
(EF Core or Dapper) and when to use each. - Familiarity with
message queues
(RabbitMQ/Kafka) for async processing and integration. - Authentication & authorization: OAuth2 / JWT, role-based security.
- Unit testing and automated test frameworks.
- Source control (Git) and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps. etc.).
Experience deploying to cloud (Azure / AWS) .
Desired (nice-to-have)
- Prior ERP product development or ERP implementation experience (Microsoft Dynamics, Odoo, SAP B1, Tally integrations etc.).
- Exposure to frontend frameworks (React/Angular) to collaborate on full-stack features.
- Experience with reporting engines (SSRS / Crystal / Power BI) and export formats (Excel/PDF).
- Knowledge of local tax & payroll compliance in target markets (e.g., India: GST, TDS, PF, ESI).
- Experience building import/export utilities and data migration scripts.

- Strong problem-solving and analytic skills — comfortable with ambiguous business rules.
- Excellent communication — can translate domain requirements into technical design and explain technical constraints to non-technical stakeholders.
- Customer-facing experience — able to gather requirements and suggest pragmatic trade-offs.
- Ownership mindset — responsible for reliability, data correctness and on-time delivery.
- Mentoring and team collaboration.
Education & experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent.
- 5+ years' experience building enterprise applications with .NET Core; demonstrable ERP-related projects preferred.
Interview / evaluation checklist
- Explain how double-entry accounting works and how you would map voucher flows (sales invoice → posting → GL impact).
- Design a DB schema for inventory transactions that supports multiple valuation methods and returns (short design).
- Walkthrough: implement BOM explosion for a production order (pseudo-code or sequence).
- Describe payroll month-end processing and handling retro changes (salary arrears).
- Performance: how to process 100k stock transactions a day — propose architecture.
- Hands-on coding task: build a small .NET Core API that posts a sales invoice and creates related GL entries (with unit tests).
Sample KPIs for the role
- Time to deliver a complete ERP module (design → tests → deployment).
- Number of critical production bugs / month.
- Accuracy of financial postings (zero reconciliation exceptions).
- Performance: average API response time under load / batch throughput.
