Role Overview:

We are seeking a proactive and technically skilled Senior Linux Engineer with 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in managing Linux-based infrastructure environments. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and high availability of our Linux server estate, supporting both on-premises and cloud-hosted platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, etc.) across physical, virtualized, and cloud environments.
  • Perform system administration activities including server provisioning, performance tuning, patch management, and system hardening.
  • Manage and troubleshoot services such as Apache, NGINX, Tomcat, Samba, FTP, DNS, DHCP, and SSH.
  • Monitor server health, logs, and performance using standard monitoring tools and respond to incidents and alerts.
  • Automate routine operational tasks using scripting languages like Bash, Python, or Ansible.
  • Participate in infrastructure upgrade, migration, and DR/HA implementations.
  • Perform vulnerability assessments and remediation in line with security best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including network, storage, application, and cloud teams for integrated infrastructure support.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for infrastructure configurations, procedures, and incident resolutions.
  • Provide on-call support for critical issues based on a defined rota.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 3 to 5 years of proven experience in Linux system administration and infrastructure support.
  • Strong hands-on experience with RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, or SUSE distributions.
  • Good understanding of Linux security, firewall configurations, SELinux, and system hardening techniques.
  • Experience in troubleshooting OS, network, and application-level issues.
  • Familiarity with virtualization platforms such as VMware, KVM, or Proxmox.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP is a plus.
  • Proficiency in shell scripting (Bash) knowledge of Python/Ansible will be an advantage.
  • Experience with ITIL-based incident, change, and problem management processes.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
